ahaha microsoft just flat out supports it while the internet company lobby is all like "hmm yes an interesting report"

quote:

While Mr. Obama has a lot of latitude in intelligence collection, the area pushed in the Podesta report will run headlong into considerable resistance in the country’s most innovative companies. Most turned out statements on Thursday embracing the idea of enhancing individual privacy; Microsoft said that it supported the effort and “will keep working with lawmakers to make these tougher privacy protections a reality.”

like everything google/facebook buy up, its to keep it from the other one. or apple.

that and because their businesses are inherently vulnerable and have non-existent moats (compared to other industries). but out of the two google is the most afraid and trying to protect their legacy business. zuck on the other hand realized a while ago that facebook.com wasnt going to be the future of the company and has been making plays ever since.

if twitter tanks enough, zuck will probably try to buy it. twitter isnt gonna go cheap tho, there'll probably be a bidding war between google and facebook. facebook doesnt have as much cash to offer but they can afford to pay a lot more in stock. google would probably have to pay a lot more in cash (as a proportion of cash and stock) for their board to take their bid over a less cash + tons of stock bid from facebook. its gonna be a poo poo show for google either way. they either miss out on a huge property which is the most pop-culturally relevant social network or they get it by blowing a gently caress ton of cash and diluting shareholders (which is worse than if facebook does it)

or twitter's management isnt completely poo poo and they start making money

from wiki of one of the partners at this law firm

Berman helped found his namesake firm in 1993. He was lead attorney in individual and class action cases against Enron, Washington Public Power Supply System, Purdue Pharma (over OxyContin), Exxon (with respect to the Exxon Valdez oil spill), Boeing, Intel (over alleged monopoly practices), Michael Milken, the Rio Tinto mining company (with respect to human rights violations and environmental destruction in New Guinea),[3] and VISA and MasterCard (in which he achieved a $3 billion settlement). He was also instrumental in the state attorneys general’s litigation against the Liggett Group and subsequent $216 billion settlement, against the tobacco industry, serving as special assistant to the various states. He was lead counsel for Microsoft during part of its defense against antitrust claims.[4]

theres no anti trust law about monopolizing the profits
