I'm loling pretty hard at that story. That's not to say that SPY isn't susceptible to jamming, or that the SU-24 can't carry the hypothetically correct kind of jammer, but just lol at all of it. I'm too lazy to check if anyone in D&D is quoting it.

Geizkragen posted:All this getting out and getting a job talk is kinda depressing while I sit here filling out my DH bonus contract. Mr. Nice! posted:I wish archives worked so I could link some of MML's posts from right after he took over as department head. My favorite was something along the lines of: there are two things I hate. ships and sailors. Hahaha, yep. I'm pretty sure that's what I said verbatim. Still pretty much true too.

Mr. Nice! posted:I have had two inguinal hernia surgeries. One of them built up a shitload of scar tissue around it. This is pretty common, apparently. I have a nerve dead ended in that scar tissue. I stretched the scar tissue, nerve sent the signal that there is a tear, so I've felt like I ripped open a hernia for two years twenty-one days and counting. I found out recently from the surgeon that performed the original repair that if the surgeon at Tripler that diagnosed it had actually done surgery to move the nerve or kill it, I'd most likely be fine. Since he didn't, I've got the neural pathway built up and the pain isn't going anywhere. I got rated at 20% for it, given severance, and sent on my way. No, I knew what happened to you. I was asking about that tuluk guy Booblord was talking poo poo to.

I keep hearing that same joke about Vas, but at this point I am unable to tell if it's true or not.

Blind Rasputin posted:Honestly, it sounds good. I've read up on it some and think that after I get licensed I'll look to applying. Foreign ports sound awesome, std's, depression, sore joints, whatever, is easy doctoring and I get to use all these skills I've amassed over the years for the military. Nope. Actual MD's are only on Carriers and larger amphibious ships. Just like on subs, CRUDES ships only have an IDC and maybe 1 or 2 junior HM's. Also, no drinking on board. Unless you're the captain.

orange juche posted:MML our doc had his own little private stash of scotch in his cabin, but he was also like 60ish, a captain, and came in after getting his doctorate and was more civilian than military it seemed. Yeah it happens, and honestly no one is going to ask questions to, or stop, that guy because he is clearly a responsible adult who can make sound decisions. That said, I definitely would not recommend trying anything like that to anyone posting here.
