GOD, I thought this too. It seems like 50% of these "breaking up" stories involve some sort of crazy abusive women and the sainted men never fight back. Also it's super difficult to diagnose a bruised diaphragm because you don't have much feeling in it, so I'm not sure how he knew exactly when that was. Any man who is afraid of hooking up with women because they'll "cry rape" on him is welcome to excuse himself from social situations involving women. No one will miss him because he's probably a creepy fucker that expects a blow job for buying a meal.

I remember in one of my college French seminars, we read Atala, which included some light incest. The two characters had been raised together but weren't blood relatives. It was still gross. There was one guy that would not stop talking about the incest taboo. He brought it up every single class. He did his paper on the theme of the incest taboo. It was super weird and I guess my inherent distrust of him after that proved the power of the incest taboo. But still.

I would defer to a lawyer, but I think treating the kid would legally have fewer repercussions than not treating the child, since the parents could just say that they didn't say anything and the doctor refused care. If the parents were threatening to hurt anyone who tried to administrate care, hospitals have security teams for that. Or, they could call the police, take the kid away and administrate care. If this person didn't do literally everything she could to save a child's life, she's a legitimately bad medical professional who cares about her own safety over the survival of her patient. So additionally (I just looked it up), the mother would have final say in the administration of care unless the father was given sole custody of the child. It's kind of the worst to make poo poo up like this because there are legitimately hosed-up things that happen every day in the name of racism and making these things up so that people can say "that's not true therefore all racism is a lie." It's the same kind of deep disappointment that comes with false rape claims. It's so frustrating. As soon as people started questioning the account, she deleted her twitter.

I remember an early episode of Intervention where a woman would have a six pack on her morning train commute, then spend like 12 hours doing truck dispatching with a few beers at lunch, and then come home and drink another six pack on the way back. The woman was the epitome of a functional alcoholic. Once she stopped drinking like 18 beers a day, she ended up divorcing her husband because she was basically unstoppable.

Paying for dinner doesn't preclude being an abuser. In fact, it could make him feel like he is "owed" something because he spent money on dinner by his date. You could just work on teaching the child to have healthy interactions with children his age, but that seems too easy and not as shareable on Facebook.

Being a woman will get people to talk to you on public transportation. You won't like it, though. My best public transportation story is when a woman in full Vietnam Vet regalia sat next to me and said, "You know they put Viagra in Chapstick now. It's so you'll keep a stiff upper lip." And then she was silent for the rest of the bus ride. It was 2 years ago and it still impacts me greatly. VV I've seen her around town actually and in the Pride parade color guard. She seems awesome. I want to grow up to be her. Marius Pontmercy has a new favorite as of 17:38 on Jan 5, 2016 |

Isn't it haram, if you will, to tell civilians about your deployment plans? My military friends have been very non-specific about where they are going before deployment other than "I am being deployed to Afghanistan." Once you're there it's no big deal, but I don't think they want it to be public knowledge of dates and places that they're shipping soldiers out.

#notallimprov My biggest problems with improv people, and I live in Chicago, so there are a LOT of them, is that they want to play every public interaction as a "scene" and then get mopey when you just want to drink your coffee and have a normal conversation. Just read the story. There were dogs on the flight and the child was breaking out in hives from the proximity to animals. They couldn't leave until the kid stopped sneezing and poo poo, so the plane was being delayed. Airline travel has a knack for turning people into isn't assholes. Legally if someone is so allergic to animals that they get that bad just being on the same place as them, it's the legal responsibility of the company that provides the service. I would assume they're putting the family on another plane with fewer animals on board. It's also irresponsible as a parent to not have Benadryl on hand if your child has allergic reactions this severe to animals. It's poo poo that did happen, but poo poo that we aren't getting entire story on.
