In 2001, there was a mentally ill German guy who put an ad on the internet for someone to eat. He found several people, turned down a few for being either too fat or too weird and eventually got someone who wanted to have his dick bitten off.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armin_Meiwes

quote:

As is known from a videotape the two made when they met on 9 March 2001 in Meiwes's home in the small town of Rotenburg, Meiwes amputated Brandes' penis and the two men attempted to eat the penis together before Brandes was killed. Brandes had insisted that Meiwes attempt to bite his penis off. This did not work and ultimately, Meiwes used a knife to remove Brandes' penis. Brandes apparently tried to eat some of his own penis raw, but could not because it was too tough and, as he put it, "chewy". Meiwes then fried the penis in a pan with salt, pepper, wine and garlic; he then fried it with some of Brandes' fat but by then it was too burned to be consumed. He then chopped it up into chunks and fed it to his dog.

Luke Magnotta. One of the grisliest killers in a long time, kills Chinese student, dismembers the corpse and sends out the limbs to various Canadian political parties. Guys like this, at least in the past, tend to escalate so it was amazing, and fortunate, that he was caught relatively soon after his first murder.
He auditioned for some reality show and even if I hadn't about him when I saw that, I still would have gotten a serial killer vibe. He sounds like Buffalo Bill with a weird, stereotypical Canadian accent (though he's probably doing that on purpose).

This made the bar owner fly off the handle and give them violent threats. I'm certain that the bar owner is the inspiration for Moe's character on The Simpsons. On July 24, 1982, a 15-year-old boy drowned in the Tidal Wave Pool.[41][42]

A week later, on August 1, a 27-year-old man from Long Island got out of his tipped kayak on the Kayak Experience to right it. While doing so, he stepped on a grate that was either in contact with, or came too close to, a section of live wiring for the underwater fans that somehow became exposed and he suffered a severe electric shock, which sent him into cardiac arrest. Several other members of his family nearby were also injured. He was taken to a hospital in nearby Warwick, New York where he died later of the shock-induced cardiac arrest.[3][41] The park at first disputed that the electric current caused his death, saying there were no burns on his body, but the coroner responded that burns generally do not occur in a water-based electrocution.[3] The ride was drained and closed for the investigation. Accounts differed as to the extent of the exposed wiring: the park said it was "just a nick", while others argued it was closer to 8 inches (20 cm). The state's Labor Department found that the fan was properly maintained and installed and cleared the park of wrongdoing; however, it also said that the current had the possibility to cause bodily harm under certain circumstances.[41] The park claimed it had been vindicated, although it never reopened the ride, saying that people would be afraid to go on it afterwards.[3]

In 1984, a fatal heart attack suffered by one visitor was unofficially believed to have been triggered by the shock of the cold water in the pool beneath the Tarzan Swing. The water on the ride and in that swimming area was 50-60 °F (10-16 °C) while other water areas were in the 70-80 °F (21-27 °C) range more typical of swimming pools. The Tarzan Swing and the Cannonball ride in this area were operated by spring water.[3]

On August 27 of that year, a 20-year-old from Brooklyn drowned in the Tidal Wave Pool.[43]

On July 19, 1987, an 18-year-old drowned in the Tidal Wave Pool.[41]

"When we first experienced Raymond and Peter, it wasn't funny," Eddie Lee says. "It was depressing and scary. And them having the tapes, having Raymond and Peter become a phenomenon and watch it proliferate, it became something different. Then we went back to see him before the opening night of the L.A. play and, whew, it was a cold blast in the face. [Peter] was asking to see Mitchell's dick. He couldn't understand anything. It really hosed us up. And then we got back in the car that night and had to drive to L.A. for the play, where we watched people laughing and laughing. It was totally strange."

At one point during our meeting, Rosenthal appears to have a similar realization. He gets this look on his face that says "I don't want to do this anymore." He clicks off his camcorder and sets it in his lap.

I continue the interview, asking why Peter left advertising.
"I'm disabled," he says.
What disability?

He pauses a long while and looks at me as if I have just taken him somewhere he doesn't want to go anymore. He reaches under his bed and pulls out a pile of yellow legal stationary. On one page is a list of medications with names too long to pronounce without practice. Next to most of the meds is written the word "Anxiety." On another page the word "Thoughts" is written across the top and underlined. "I want to die," is thought No. 1. "I wake up every morning and wonder when I am going to die," is thought No. 2. On a third page is a list of several suicide attempts.

Mustering one last reservoir of voyeurism, I spread the pages out on the bed and Rosenthal films them. I feel sick. Rosenthal looks sick. We are sick.

Still, I have to ask. I have to go deeper. This is what I wanted, right? The real Peter.

"Why do you say here that you want to die?" I ask.
"Well," he says, "what have I contributed to the world except to sell more Alka-Seltzer and Black Label beer?"

Killer Show goes into detail about the man at 5:55 carrying someone else over his shoulders and calling for a medic.

quote:

A few patrons escaped despite an initial period of indecision. Harold “Hal” Panciera came to The Station that night with low expectations, and the place, “an overcrowded dump,” lived up to them. Panciera was thirty-five and coming off a rough stretch. Just three weeks out of rehab for cocaine addiction, he sat “stone cold sober” at the main horseshoe bar smoking cigarettes when Great White took the stage. He can be seen in Brian Butler’s early video walkthrough of the main bar, seated next to the Sanetti party.

Panciera had a clear sight-line to the stage from his perch at the bar, and he didn’t like what he saw. The moment flames began climbing the walls behind Great White, he “knew that people were going to die — the place was just that crowded.” Panciera initially ducked behind the bar’s curve about ten feet from the exit door and waited for his buddy, who had gone to the men’s room. Before long, however, black smoke tumbled toward him across the ceiling. It fast became too thick to see anyone, but he “distinctly recalls hearing the bar cash register open.” Someone scooped the till.

As heat in the room rose in seconds from tolerable to scalding, Panciera could hear, over the screams, people banging blindly on the walls, feeling for any door or window opening. Working his own way along the east wall of the club, he groped for the bar exit door until he “popped out” of it, into breathable air. Once he became reoriented, Panciera returned to the bar door and yelled inside, but there was no response. He turned and walked twenty feet farther south to the kitchen door. It stood open and empty, flanked by snow piles. All who would exit through it on their own had long since left. Inside were only black smoke within a few feet of the floor and an eerie silence. When he yelled into the door, Panciera truly expected no response. But a man answered, “Help! I’m burning alive! I can’t get out!” Panciera knew he could not reenter through the dense smoke, so he yelled for the man to stay on the floor and tell him if he felt snow. Panciera then began throwing snowballs along the floor in a radial pattern. After several tosses, the man responded, “I feel it!” So, Panciera kept throwing snowballs in the man’s direction, instructing him to follow them. When the man crawled within feet of the kitchen door, Panciera reached inside and dragged him out.

Brian Butler’s video from outside the club more than five minutes into the conflagration clearly shows the five-foot-seven, 150-pound Panciera standing in the parking lot, staring toward arriving firetrucks and shouting, “Gimme a medic!” Over one shoulder, he carries a two-hundred-pound unconscious man. Behind him, flames belch from the club’s front doors. Beside him, a leather-vested club-goer holds a pitifully tiny fire extinguisher aloft in one hand. In the foreground, firemen drag an uncharged line past a blackened, still-smoking man who writhes on the pavement moaning, “Turn it on . . . turn it on.” And Dan Biechele scrambles to free that same fire hose from beneath a car tire. One can only surmise Biechele’s horror at what he had unwittingly set in motion. Panciera never learned the identity of the man on his shoulder — the lucky one, who had escaped the inferno on a trail of snowballs. But the victim spoke with Panciera about his children after regaining consciousness and awaiting transport to a hospital. Panciera is sure the man survived.

Back in 2006, the remains of a mummified woman were found in a tent off a highway in California. It was clear she was mentally ill. In the tent were bibles, a Harry Potter book and on the outside of it, the words "No go, no eat, no drink, murder" were written with tape. There were no signs of foul play. I've read about a lot of Doe cases and what made this one stand out was the fact that there was an actual picture of her (a mugshot) instead of a reconstruction. She'd been arrested earlier that year for tweaking on the side of a road. With the woman's face out there, it seemed strange that she never was identified so I assumed that her family simply didn't give a poo poo about her.

Thankfully, I was wrong. Earlier this week, she was identified as Christine Kuhn, a 41 year old missing woman from DC. The matching DNA sample was provided by her daughter.

The truth is far simpler. Earlier this week, a more advanced DNA test proved that the murderer was the campus security guard who discovered her body. He ended up walking in on her having sex with a man he didn't recognize. He decided to give them some privacy but told the stranger to get dressed and leave. Neither person emerged from the room after a brief period of waiting. So Arthur went back in and discovered that Jodine had been beaten and strangled to death. Her body was cold.
