Literature is not exhaustible, for the sufficient and simple reason that no single book is. A book is not an isolated being: it is a relationship, an axis of innumerable relationships.
So do you have a phone or tablet that you get a lot of glare on? Does it collect fingerprints to the point of absurdity? Do your fingers keep slipping when you try to do a longpress because you're a clumsy idiot?

I love the hell out of these matte finish Tech Armor protectors because they cut glare, have a nice texture to prevent slipping, and are amazingly good at resisting fingerprints. I bought one for my Nexus 4 last year and I just got one for my Nexus 7 as well and I just can't do without them now. They also come with really good installation instructions, dust-removing sticky tape, and (most importantly) a set of three so you can gently caress up the first one or two because you're a clumsy idiot like me.

They don't look as nice as the clear ones (which is what my wife uses on her devices) but I think they're fantastic. They make a ballistic glass version too which I've never used but it's probably good too. They also make them for drat near every device you can think of.

I've never had good results with wooden toilet seats, they always seem to come apart at the joints in a few years, and since they usually have metal fittings, they're usually corroded pretty badly by that point and are really difficult to remove.

Also, I am a total sucker for this sort of thing, even though I rarely if ever have to use any tools outside of the apartment.

Oh, and I got this as a gift for my wife recently and she says it's the only electric shaver she's ever used that wasn't complete garbage. YMMV obviously but she'd already tried a bunch of others and had given up on them altogether.

I have bought a bunch of Blu Ray box sets from amazon.co.uk. Blu Ray is not region locked, and it sometimes ends up being way cheaper to buy there and ship to the US than buy the equivalent here.

Blu-Ray has region coding, it's just different from the DVD regions. Some companies don't bother to region-lock their Blu-Ray releases if the movies are old enough, which is probably the case with your Harry Potter set.

2.5 female to 3.5 male adapter so I can use my old plantronics headset to talk other goons instead of the crap desktop mic I'm using now.

Can you try this out with a phone when you get it, and if it works tell us where you got it? I have an old phone handset with a 2.5mm jack that I want to be able to use again with a modern cellphone but all the adapters I've tried haven't actually worked.

Finally getting around to spending a bunch of birthday money on stuff I don't actually need.

The Essential Dykes to Watch Out For, re-reading Fun Home made me remember how much I liked Bechdel's early work too.

Conversation of Shadows, Yoon Ha Lee is probably my favorite new SF author. I've had this as an ebook for a while but I want it on paper. You can read "Ghostweight" for free here and it's a good introduction to her style and subjects.

Logitech M705, to replace the Intellimouse Explorer v3 that finally died after about ten years.

UE Mini Boom, so I can listen to music while doing housework without getting my earphones caught on everything.

"Brill Bruisers" by the New Pornographers, I think this is a lot better than "Together" was and I've been enjoying it a great deal. I want it on an actual CD because I'm old.

Got a water flosser for my wife, who has third world dental issues and this will allow us to avoid about $20,000 worth of orthodontics for a while longer.

And I grabbed a few things for myself at the same time:

The Quantum Thief, comes highly recommended. Rajaniemi is apparently one of those out-of-nowehere SF talents that is just blowing everybody away.

Lingua Tertii Imperii by Victor Klemperer, who is better known for his "I Will Bear Witness" diaries about WW2. This is sort of a nonfiction version of Orwell's 1984; I read a bit of it when I was working for the Germanic Studies department of a university and never got around to finishing it.

And some touchscreen gloves from Timberland because Jesus Christ what the gently caress just happened to the weather.

The ability to use almost any bluetooth device or NFC tag to auto-unlock your device is called "Smart Lock" and is built into Lollipop. It may require third-party software from Motorola on earlier versions, I don't know.
