You can use some heat to "seal" the ends but it's not all that effective and usually looks bad. Bet bet is to get some thread that is the same color and loop the ends a bit. I didn't get a chance to go to Wizard World but my friend got Best In Show for his Warhammer costume. He spent almost a year making it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7UsR22XImNA Not sure if a working person typically takes that long to make something like this but it was his first attempt.

Very awesome work, McPanterson! Wow! I have a dumb question for any frequent cosplayers: How difficult is it to balance working full time and also making several elaborate costumes a year? I work a PM 40 but never feel like I have enough time to read, let alone make chainmail or whatever.
