More answer: They are the Lutences, Rosalind is the inventor of much of the technology in Columbia, and her "brother" Robert from a "normal" parallel universe. The bad guys try to engineer a lab accident to assassinate them for knowing too much, but instead they get unstuck in space time and appear everywhere like quantum trickster spirits.
