(I'm the Repo-Man down in front) Pictures, you say? I don't usually take a lot of pictures since I am usually in costume myself. Here is my album from JAFAX, only 18 pictures. http://imgur.com/a/gfIrs I'll be trying to get to my MetroCon album soon. Again, not a lot of pictures. It's the one downside to being in costume. That and the constant profuse sweating. Deodorant is really my best friend at cons, not the people I buy plane tickets to see!

Some things I saw at MetroCon 2014. Album Here: http://imgur.com/a/kxWOK. I wish I took more photos. I don't think I can properly convey how tall this guy is. He was a part of the Anime Human Chess Battle. He really is monstrous in size. These two met just before I cam to take a picture. He's so happy He could walk around in this thing. Not well, but he was mobile. Friends of mine I was stuck watching everyones props/bags/etc., so I didn't get very good pictures of their photo shoot. Fun facts: The Seifer is wearing high heels in those boots to add height. The Fujin's (blue w/ silver hair) costume, everything except the boots, actually belongs to the Squall.

He didn't have a helmet at the time, but it's loving Florida so I can understand why. He had just come in from outside. My costumes are bad enough without being that large and cumbersome. Nothing like washing pleather after a long day of walking around in 90 degree weather.

simosimo posted:I'm looking at going to comic con in London in October, with the idea of just soaking it in (my first time) and shooting photos of cosplayers. If a cosplayer is eating, leave them alone. If they are in a moving line for a panel or event, leave them alone. Maybe tell them "I love your costume" or something, but getting out of lines for events sucks. If a costume is super involved to get on, be patient while they get it on. Sometimes it can take a few minutes. Try not to do creeper shots I.E. following someone and taking pictures without their permission, especially the women folk. I've had this happen to friends. The only real exception to this is if someone is performing or dancing, or has a massively large costume. Most people in larger costumes tend to stick to one area where people can photograph them whenever they want. An example of that is a guy who was in a 9 ft tall Aku (Samurai Jack) costume at MetroCon. It's pretty much just shoot all you want. Typically if you see someone getting their picture taken, you can just jump in next to the photographer to take a picture and the cosplayer will notice and keep posing for you and how ever many people show up to take their picture. If you see someone in a vendor room, you can ask for photos there too. Most conventions have the vendors room in a large enough space it's easy to find a place to take a picture. It also tends to be a good place to catch cosplayers. \/\/\/ They are joking but, just to give an idea...At JAFAX, a girl was dressed as the bandage Lelu from Fifth Element, and was like that for a few hours before changing. She was getting harassed too much. A friend has a costume where she can't wear a bra underneath, and she was getting stalked by a lot of guys. Another friend has an I-No costume from Guilty Gear, and she gets creeped on a lot also. MetroCon had to station security on the escalators and around stairs to stop people from taking upskirt shots. Cons are trying harder to stop this stuff, but it's still pretty prevalent. If you see someone being a creepy rear end creeper, report it to someone working the convention. KatWithHands posted:Sorry if it's already been discussed, but is there a convention rule about strung bows for people who cosplay with the real thing? Most I've seen have gone without the string and just mime it, and I know it's nothing to, say, string up a bow with an over-sized elastic cord instead so it just looks taut when they pull it, but I've been seeing more cosplays lately with what look like real bows, with actual tension from the string. Or are they just really convincing fakes made with the bend already in them? That Arsenal in particular looks pretty legit, so I was just wondering. All conventions in Michigan would make you unstring the bow, or just take it from you if it had real tension since it can be used as a weapon. I don't know of any conventions that would allow a real, strung bow in the convention center. Maybe some conventions have more lax weapon rules, or that guy just made a super convincing fake bow.

This is what a recurve looks like unstrung (bad picture, but it works). So it would look off, but if someone was asked to unstring their bow it would at least still look okay. I've never seen a cosplayer with a real bow at a convention, but again, different conventions have different rules. It's just safer to not have one strung up, especially if you leave it somewhere and someone decides to dry fire it. I left the bow in the picture alone for five minutes after stringing it for the first time and someone dry fired it twice (fortunately it's okay!). Having a bow strung in a convention with tons of people just seems like a really bad idea to me. Actual content that I hope hasn't been posted yet: Edgar Allen Ho

So Youmacon was over the Halloween weekend. Loooootta Metal Gear. Also some not Metal Gear. The helmet lights up inside, but there are so few lights in the mask you can't see it unless you see it form an angle and can catch the LEDs in the side. Miku here is leading a huge conga line. The speakers on her waist were incredibly loud. And finally someone uploaded this to the Youmacon FB page recently

Furries are just weird and uncomfortable to be around. Homestuck people actually destroy rooms because their makeup would clog drains and destroy furniture. The bulk of the fandom was also very young people who were dropped off at the hotels by their parents, and the kids just kind of wrecked up the place without any kind of supervision. I've also almost had a costume destroyed because early in the fandom they would just act in character without regards to personal boundaries. Anyway, cosplay.
