Drunk Nerds posted:He was SEC. co-defensive player of the year, which is something. But his skill set is not a typical one that translates well to pro ball . Which is why he was one of the last picks. Huh, I read that he was really talented and was expected to be a pretty high pick. Was that article wrong? I don't follow college ball that much.

What I would love to see is for Obama to say "The Supreme Court has made their decision, now let them enforce it." and go about his business.

I've always wondered how employers or insurance would know if you're a smoker in order to charge you more. Unless you're smoking at work like a chump instead of using smokeless tobacco that doesn't affect other people, anyway, how would they know what you're doing on your downtime? Edit: By the time they found out you had a smoking related illness it'd be too late for them to up your premiums before they had to pay up for your care

Chomp8645 posted:Varies from place to place. But basically there a lot of, uh, let's say "traditional" places in the country where such a thing is probably legal. In Georgia, the only places you see emissions standards and testing is in Atlanta and wealthier towns (Newnan, Savannah, Augusta, maybe Columbus). Everywhere outside that is free game as far as emissions go, because no one gives a poo poo about backwater rural countryside. You try pulling that kind of poo poo in Atlanta though and you'll get your truck impounded.

ToxicSlurpee posted:Yeah, it's basically just a bunch of "no gently caress YOU, dad!" It isn't about any issue other than "YOU'RE NOT THE BOSS OF ME!!!" A friend of mine on a motorcycle was run off the road by one of those assholes' smoke clouds so when he got back on the road he pulled up next to the truck and threw a bottle at the driver. It didn't solve anything, but it sure made him feel better about almost dying. Edit: One of those videos showed a truck blowing diesel smoke into a crowd of Westboro Church people. That's an approved action. HonorableTB has a new favorite as of 18:23 on Jul 20, 2014 |

What bothers me about the Christy Mack thing (besides the obvious beating) is that she's a porn star who has sex with other men for a living, and yet the MMA fighter was apparently okay with that, but not with her sleeping with another guy off camera? How do you get to that level of mental division? I mean, I'd never date a porn star anyway, but if I did it sure wouldn't be a serious, long term relationship because I couldn't expect someone who gets paid to have sex with other guys to be in a monogamous relationship. The two are mutually exclusive.

Wow, dude is loving crazy. Hopefully he goes to jail for attempted murder since that list of injuries makes it strongly appear that he tried to kill her.

And here I was thinking that if you consistently want sex and your girlfriend/boyfriend/wife/husband doesn't, maybe you should be seeing someone you're sexually compatible with instead of pressuring them into doing it, but then again I have rational views on what does and does not constitute RAPING PEOPLE

I'm half Cherokee and I don't give a poo poo about "indians vs Native Americans", people get too up in arms about things. I'd rather people work towards solving the real problems plaguing the tribes like rampant alcoholism, poo poo economies, and chronic poverty as opposed to "Let's have a national debate about what we should call these people" like the obvious answer of "people" isn't actually that obvious.

Scotland is for all practical purposes an independent country, Wales is not. Also Wales has been integrated into England for a much larger time period whereas the Act of Union was in the 18th century and if I remember British history correctly, it was a Scottish queen from the House of Stuart doing the uniting. Scotland was in a much more favorable position than Wales, who was utterly conquered and stomped into the ground.

El Estrago Bonito posted:Not that it will probably change anything but you can always make the organizers of the convention aware that you aren't planning on attending due to one of their headliners having absolutely awful views about women. Not that nerd cons are known for being super duper progressive about that kind of poo poo (see: Pedophile being payed by DragonCon for a decade even after they knew) but who knows until you try? The DragonCon pedophile thing was actually more complicated than you make it sound. The guy was a co-founder of the convention and a combination of the ownership contract and Georgia law mandated that in order for the convention's other owners to stop paying the pedo his share of the profits (even in jail!), they had to buy out his stake in the corporation. It took ten years for the convention to come up with the cash to buy him out in order to avoid losing their ownership of it (and also allowing the convention itself to revert to the pedo's control entirely). For what it's worth, as soon as the other owners were aware of the pedo's activities, they barred him from having anything to do with the convention at all, stopped any mention of him, actively revoked memberships of people who asked about him, and generally made it very known that the convention does not associate with him whatsoever beyond their contractual and legal obligations. Since then, they've bought out his stake and have legally severed all ties to the creep.
