Real edit: After reading the wiki entry for the movie, covering yourself with a piece of paper could really help with burns from the blast. So i guess you could live a day longer if you did it.

They probably weren't going to put out an accurate film stating that "If you can see the flash, you're hosed! Lie down and wrap yourself in a sheet for easier disposal."

While this is still super impressive it definitely looks like the middle and top ones were pre-broken and barely hanging on.
