Bogdan means "God-given." Aleksandr Bogdanov (author of the early 20th century science fiction novel Red Star) changed his name to that because he was so full of himself...but died giving himself malaria/tuberculosis-infected blood transfusions when trying to achieve immortality. Anyways, it's the best name in the draft since God Shammgod

Parker played the 4/5 on a team with no post presence and Wiggins played the wing on a team that pounds it inside even when it's to its own detriment. Parker will be a good rebounder for a 3, but average for a 4 in the NBA, while Wiggins had good production rebounding on the wing (6reb/game) on a team with one elite+one good rebounding starting bigs. Parker's shooting% was better than Wiggins, but it wasn't significantly better. Wiggins scored by going to the basket (6.5 FTA/game) in a wing-unfriendly offense and steadily improved his jumper over the year. The early narrative for these two was that Parker was NBA ready and Wiggins was raw upside, but that's just a lazy narrative set within the first week of the season. Parker is a riskier pick because you don't know how his body type will translate to the NBA and his defense will never not be a concern, while Wiggins seems to be Iguodala-type as a worst case scenario if he just coasts by on his athleticism/wing defense.

gently caress CLEVELAND Chad Ford's instant mock: 1.) Cavs- Embiid 2.) Bucks- Wiggins 3.) Sixers- Parker 4.) Magic- Exum 5.) Jazz- Smart Celtics would be pumped to get Randle. He could go to Orlando, but I don't think that's a good fit with so much PG talent available and Vuc/solid young talent at the 4 already. Jazz always have a loaded frontcourt as well and really need a wing...they got a really bad draft spot and should trade down to get Gordon or something.

Quest For Glory II posted:I'm hopin! I mean what is Cleveland's biggest need? They're pretty atrocious defensively so I don't think Parker's an awfully good fit. He'd play the 3/4 and would force Thompson to the 5 long-term, which isn't a very good option. But as the poster below me said, more than anything they need some competency with decision making. bearic fucked around with this message at 01:43 on May 21, 2014 |

It's pretty impressive that the Kings are totally disappointed with their pick but still get Vonleh, who I think would have gone #1 last year (to a sane front office).

If you're criticizing Embiid on his numbers, have you looked at his individual games? He didn't play a lot in the OOC, then got hurt with a couple of injuries at the end of the season, limiting his minutes. In the conference season, he scored in double-digits all but 4 times (11/15). Embiid did not shoot more than 10 shots in a game the entire season and still averaged 10ppg. A lot of this is from his foul trouble, but he was getting auto-double teamed the entire conference season. Everyone complained about Wiggins not being aggressive enough, but he averaged 12 FGA/game. bearic fucked around with this message at 02:50 on May 25, 2014 |

For some real dunk porn, watch Embiid's high school mixtape here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m0nxBm5TaI0 Compare his jumpshot/post motions from the draft workout vs. high school mixtape. Insane how much smoother his shot/moves are now, but the athleticism is the same. He throws down a ton of Dwight Howard throw-the-ball-in-from-above dunks.

Chad Ford tweeted out the measurements for Embiid/Wiggins/Parker: Embiid: 7' 1" in shoes, 7' 5.75" wingspan, 9' 5.5" standing reach. Wiggins: 6' 8.75" in shoes, 7' 0" wingspan, 8" 11" standing reach. Parker: 6' 9" in shoes, 6' 11.75" wingspan, 8' 11.5" standing reach. They must be wearing Cole Aldrich shoes because each of them is an inch or two taller than I expected. Just compare the Wiggins measurements to Randle from the combine: Randle: 6'7.75" w/o shoes, 6'9" w/ shoes, 7'0" wingspan, 8'9.5" standing reach. For further reference--Embiid's numbers are about the same as Brook Lopez's, a bit better than Tyson Chandler's, and a few inches (between wingspan/height) better than both Oden/Noah. For Wiggins, assuming Ford's numbers are correct, consider this: (EDIT) I'm a dummy and can't read the measurements (END EDIT) bearic fucked around with this message at 03:10 on May 26, 2014 |

Yeah Thad Young is worth the Parker-->Wiggins jump, especially considering that Thad may not want to stick around and the 76ers defense was as bad as the Lakers' last year. Plus, an MCW+Wiggins backcourt is really appealing as long as one can shoot 35-40% from 3 in the next few years.

Cavs leaked a report that Embiid failed their physical to a Cleveland talk radio host. Now, Rotoworld ran a story that the Cavs actually cleared Embiid just fine and leaked that story to encourage the Bucks to take Parker #2 of they take the 76ers deal to trade up for Wiggins.

If the Cavs are still high on Embiid (but not high enough to take him #1) or are smitten on Exum, they can definitely get that 3+10 package out of the 76ers now. Maybe even get Thad Young out of them too if they really want.

Welcome back to the forums, everyone! Cavs tried to fly in Exum for a private workout, but he refused. As I saw someone on Twitter say--only the Cavs, having the #1 pick, could lose control of this draft.
