I wish the Lakers or Celtics had won it instead of Cleveland. The lottery is more disappointing every year.

rabidsquid posted:Ugh I am genuinely not happy that this happened and its all because the stupid Pistons ran a short rotation and tried desperately for an eight seed to get swept in the first round and Yeah man the Pistons lose their pick and the Cavs get the #1 overall again. This was the worst lottery ever.

Since your team automatically improves minus Rudy Gay, he will probably be traded 3 times a year for the rest of his contract life.

Declan MacManus posted:In my experience goons are typically really happy if their team drafts an elite (or perceived elite) shooter so I'm sure that even though Harris is the better prospect a lot of posters here would rather have Stauskas I've seen Michigan/Michigan State play each other like 5 times in the last two years and even though I'm an alumni and huge homer for Michigan I can't see any reason why anyone would rate Stauskas over Harris. Harris has like all the same scoring skills as Stauskas and plays way better defense to boot.

I still think Wiggins will go #1.

Blinkman987 posted:Big Dog did a lot for that Milwaukee team, but it certainly felt like losing the lottery when it meant missing on Hill and Kidd. Let's not repeat that, Milwaukee! I don't think any of the three players were vastly better than the other in their prime, peak Robinson in Milwaukee shouldered an enormous scoring load for those teams and was a legit all-star multiple times -- it's just that Hill and Kidd had whole entire memorable second careers from age 30-40 whereas Robinson faded away rapidly. Not to mention that if any of them had been drafted by Milwaukee in lieu of Robinson, they probably would have followed similar arcs and either left via trade or free agency or crippling injury. Grant Hill's career really is the saddest goddamn thing in the world to look at on Basketball Reference. He basically never once played meaningful playoff basketball in his entire career, and his best ever post-season set was probably putting up a ridiculous 29 PER in a 5-game loss to the Atlanta Hawks in the first round in 1999 (maybe the most amazing individual performance ever in a sad crippling defeat to the Hawks). Jason Kidd didn't win a ring until his 15th trip to the playoffs, which at that point is basically law of averages.

I have a huge NCAA tourney hard-on for Julius Randle and I don't see how anyone can rate Vonleh higher than him (can anyone talk me out of this? Because I keep seeing Randle slide down mock boards and I just think that's crazy). I feel like whoever picks up Randle in the 3-10 range is getting a dude who is NBA Starter material from day 1 and probably a career double-double machine. Also one of the most insane athletic bodies I have ever seen on a dude who is only 19.

kiimo posted:He's also a bit of a tweener. Don't get me wrong I think he will overcome that. Just saying his length isn't ideal for a 4. He's the largest PF available in the draft. I'm not sure how anyone could label him a tweener (Assuming we're still talking about Randle in context?). He's not like 6'7 240 or like 6'11 190, he's 6'9 250 which is enormous even by NBA standards at the position. He's the exact same size as Blake Griffin. I'd say his red flags are that he has absolutely no outside game, but I don't know why you would ever want him playing outside of the paint anyways. I guess it could create some paint spacing problems for his team if he can't rotate to the wing though.

Yuzenn posted:I'm playing a scenario in my mind where its Stauskas at the 2 and Vonleh at the 4, tbh. I think if the Sixers gets Vonleh/Randle + Stauskas/Harris they will be a great up-and-coming team next year with the addition of a healthy Noel. MCW/Stauskas/Young/Vonleh/Noel or MCW/Harris/Young/Randle/Noel would be fantastic. Any way they can come out of the lottery with a good SG and PF they win the draft. e: or Gordon as a PF pick.
