My problem with Civ 5 is how laughably, terribly bad the AI is at naval combat.

Exhibit A, The smallest military power in the world wrecking a military/navy nearly 3 times its size:

I know the solution is just play on pangea forever, but that is pretty boring quite frankly.

Exactly. It works in Fallout 2 because that game is basically a bunch of areas connected by vast expanses of nothing. In NV/F3 they tried actually filling these areas of nothing with little interesting bits to make them worth exploring and walking around in.

Playing Sacred Citadel with a friend right now and it's pretty annoying how damage-spongey enemies can get. Also what's the point of having an attack that sends enemies flying across the screen when their flying body doesn't actually knockback/hurt other enemies? Come on, that's like lesson 1 in Beat 'em ups 101.

Right now, if I launch the game and go grab a drink or to the bathroom, when I come back it's still the middle of the opening cutscene, and then I have to manually skip it and wait until the main menu loads. It would be much better if I could just launch the game, go grab a drink, and come back to the already loaded main menu.

I'm guessing its the same reason Civ 5 Vanilla had an unskippable cutscene: They're trying to hide a loading bar behind the cutscene. Which is stupid. Just show me the bar so I can see how long I have to wait, instead of forcing me to mash the spacebar or escape key the entire time.

The thing I hate about the Battlefield series is that it started out as this awesome combined arms game where you could control battleships, aircraft carriers and b17 bombers or have massive tank battles with like a dozen tanks (per side) or you could call in artillery strikes that were actually aimed and fired by other players. Then like 10 years later it is almost indistinguishable from the next generic modern FPS shooter (and worse yet, indistinguishable from the previous game in the same series).

I think the idea is that both rooms can cover each other and prevent them both from being surrounded. Except it doesn't work at all when both rooms are being shelled by tanks and aircraft 100~ meters away.

To me the biggest thing dragging down Shadows of Mordor (Besides the mandatory stealth sections) is the fact that the game starts easy and gets even easier. This is the way games normally work of course, your hero powers up through the course of the story so he can save the world or take down the big bad. But I feel like a central part of the Nemesis system is your character dying; it powers up the Orc that killed you and changes your future encounters with that Orc. This new powered up orc might challenge his warchief for the title and get even stronger and etc

When you start out having an easy time (I'm comparing the combat to the Arkham games, which had a much stricter timing on your attacks/counters and much less forgiving in flubbed button presses, among other things) and then it becomes even easier (particularly when you reach the last two tiers of the power list), it kind of renders the nemesis system moot unless you start dying intentionally or handicapping yourself.

Shadow of Mordor is neat I guess but the berserkers drive me mad. I'm usually reduced to running away and capping them with arrows whenever there's more than two or three in a group.

NBA2k15 has a career mode where you basically create a character, sign up with an NBA team and try to win some games. The only thing is that the game expects (and acts) like your the next Michael Jordan. So even though you turn the ball over to the other team 10 times (5 is already way too high) for 3 games straight, and are basically hogging the ball up and down the court, the coach will keep giving you more minutes per game as if you weren't the most poisonous thing to the team's chemistry and chances of winning.

It's just kind of frustrating (and unrealistic) that there's no way to play the career mode where you're just a regular player, not the second coming of basketball jesus
