bullet3 posted:I just wish more of these movies were available in HD. I hate the idea of watching a Tarkovsky movie in standard def, just begs for a blu-ray release, but MosFilm have been really slow to migrate to HD. Don't get me started on War and Peace, which begs for a full-8k restoration treatment, and is currently only available as a muddy transfer on out-of-print dvds. It'd be like trying to watch Lawrence of Arabia on your phone, like what's the point. Well, the Criterion Collection has Solaris on blu-ray, if that's any consolation.

Watched Lemonade Joe over the weekend. While I think the original cinematic release was in black and white, the version I saw made prodigious use of color. Now I'm not talking about Ted Turner-esque recoloring, these were beautiful. Hilarious movie as well.

penismightier posted:The original release was tinted, making it for the most part lemonade-colored. What'd the version you saw look like? It was tinted as well, but far more use of other colors. I'm guessing depending on the character the movie was focusing on, the color of the tint would change. It was beautiful though. I never got distracted by the tint.
