Like fascism irl is bad but it's not necessarily comic book evil and he was willing to write about that. there's no way you could capture that in something as short as a film so verhoevens take is prob the best possible (also captures how every heinlein character is a Mary Sue)

The thing I took away from the book was that it would be loving awesome to have a dog that can talk
