For just about the entire time that I have ever rowed on a team, whenever I would have to take a 2k test (row 2000 meters on a rowing machine, takes around 7:30-8:30 for women and 6:30-8:00 for men), I would always listen to Mars Volta, specifically Goliath, because it would fit just about perfectly into the timeframe of the test. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEIJ8O-Mimo
