It's the first taste of the 2014 NFL season (OTA or Organized Team Activities, which are "voluntarily mandatory") and we are desperate to find out how that 6th round CB you graded an "A-" is doing.

Go here for the full schedule:

http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/123338/2014-minicamp-ota-schedules-released

Browns notes:

**Josh Gordon is participating in all OTAs until someone tell him not to.

**JFF is third string QB but come the gently caress on, right...

** Newly drafted OG Joel Bitonio just sold your little brother some weed but it was mostly seeds and stems.

Random notes from Seahawks' OTAs

--Percy Harvin is apparently the front-runner for punt return duties, but Pete said Earl Thomas would do that "if the season started today." Read into that what you will, but it sounded more like a joke to me.

--Malcolm Smith had minor ankle surgery to remove "loose bodies." He should be fine for camp.

-- :siren: Best Shape Of His Life alert: :siren: James Carpenter dropped 15 pounds.

--TJax was attending to a family matter and Keith Price has a groin issue, so Terrelle Pryor saw time with the second team.

--Tharold Simon has been cleared to run and should be ready by next week. Jesse Williams was out with a laceration.

Dion Jordan is 265lbs, up from 248lbs.

Ryan Tannehill overthrew Mike Wallace.

Gibson, Hartline, and Binns are all participating. That's cool.

Dude. Get pumped! This is like the perfect The Expendables situation where a bunch of veteran greats together to kick some rear end and win. Maurice Jones - Drew will finally get to show the world what he can do with a good supporting cast. Matt Schaub will save his legacy in the NFL. Justin Tuck will revisit his past glories and humiliate the team that turned its back on him in a Super Bowl MVP winning performance. This is a Team of Destiny situation

And I just jinxed it.

I guess my first question is why is there always a solid chunk of acl tears in OTAs and training camp? I'm not going to be stupid and proclaim this year is worse than any year before, but it's always strange to me why so many people are out for the year before contact has even started.

Football players are really good at playing football, but mess up running sharp diagonal lines for no reason and snap their ligaments?

I wonder if players spend the entire offseason in the gym getting larger and building muscle, but as soon as they hit the field and make a real hard cut on grass for the first time in months they're not used to it? Of course that would depend entirely on them having a lovely routine that included no agility training which isn't likely

It can also depend on how serious they took the routine, and how often it was. If you're tearing your ACL on your first day just doing normal poo poo, I'd bet 9/10 times you didn't do much to get in peak pro athlete shape coming into camp. Or you've got bitch ligaments and it was only a matter of time.

This can only be proven to be true if Chris Tucker leaps onto the medical cart and shout 'YOU GOT BLOWN THE gently caress OUT' at the knee in question, tho
