I'm really really really worried for Oberyn. I have been totally unspoiled about the outcome of the fight but I just know he's going to die because I like him a lot and that's pretty much a death sentence in this world. also he and lena heady are totally adorable and I would hate "character dying" to break them up.

Also: called it.me last thread posted:Not a book reader haven't been spoiled about the outcome of the battle, but I'm going to be very happy if, after all this complaining about the Mountain's recast, he only shows up in armor next episode and dies. I claim a half-victory.

Raserys posted:Well, hopefully his leave from the show won't affect his relationship with Lena Headey. Apparently it has pascal, from a reddit AMA earlier this week posted:Lena is one of my favorite persons. And she (in life) is so funny and so smart, such a good person, a good friend and a good mother, I think everyone on that set and anyone who comes in contact with her develops an instant crush. Talk about male or female, you're going to get a crush on her easy. And I was just lucky that I got to work with her and hit it off and continue being friends. UGH this is why I don't get invested in strangers' personal lives.

From a few pages back butprecision posted:He could have even written in some way for Oberyn to lose but still not die. My thought process: "Oh no! Okay well maybe he'll get out of that grip. ...Oh, oh no, okay well, he can just be blind or something. Maybe he has like a dagger or something, he'll break free, call it quits, go back to Dorne, have cool bandages over his eyes, and... Oh. Welp."

Durzel posted:I'm going to start rooting for off screen characters. I am glad Rickon is off-screen, since that means at least one Stark is assured from being brutally killed anytime soon.

idgi the kawaiiest posted:Either they're virgins whose only idea of what sex is like comes from watching too much Japanese porn or they're full of poo poo. There is no way that scene was written, rehearsed, shot and edited without someone, somewhere, saying "um, this not-rape scene kinda looks like rape". Men are awful. Also I was wondering what house Selyse Baratheon is from (House Florent of the Reach, a bannerman of the Tyrells), and I found out that Selyse's first cousin once removed is none other than everyone's favorite goon Sam Tarley. Neat.

(Maybe she did, but, it wasn't on screen, so it probably didn't happen.)

SBJ posted:I don't read the books either but do you guys seriously not remember this scene? "Your daughter is coming with us, because I need to sacrifice her to make the Lord of Light happy" - things Melisandre definitely totally said in that scene, nothing is ambiguous at all, there. Which is my point; if Shireen is just going to be sacrificed, why wasn't she suggested on-screen sooner? She's right there. Why go through all the effort hunting Gendry? Sure, Stannis would forbid it, but we haven't seen that, and in general if we haven't seen a scene, and if it hasn't been implied through dialogue, then it'd generally be weird to assume it happened. SBJ posted:I honestly don't know how much clearer it can be. I'm also not sure why it wasn't mentioned earlier, but everyone that Mel claimed that "the lord has needed" has been burned to a crisp. If just three leeches can kill three pretenders, why wouldn't they just put a leech on Shireen every month or so? What the other poster said, that it's an undefined "something bad," is all we know - a straight blood sacrifice like how people are talking about it is dumb and doesn't make sense. Oh my loving god page 51 is nothing but book chat. STOP TALKING ABOUT THE BOOKS. If you have questions pm someone in the OP, they're literally assigned the job of answering your inane book questions.
