I haven't really had the warehouse problem with rock auto before, however it seems like everytime I order Moog parts, I get two different versions of the part. Either version will work, but usually one is beefier and has grease zerks. I don't get it....

Nodoze posted:loving UPS. I ordered tires yesterday and they told me the delivery date is tomorrow (Wednesday). UPS showed up and tried to deliver them today, while I am home, and didn't ring the doorbell and just left a failure notification on the door. Thanks guys Sorry mate, but every time I see one of these stories, it makes me appreciate that my work will accept personal packages, and I can swing by the loading dock to get them at any time. There is usually 5 or 6 sets of tires there all the time from all the car guys.

Does the idler arm have replaceable bushing or something? I have no idea what could cause excessive play in the pitman arm, other than maybe the bushings in the idler arm wore out allowing the pitman arm to move a bit.....

While I've been in that meeting, I feel its 100 times worse when the other folks are engineers that really should know better. I can usually shut down the non-engineers pretty easily, but other engineers will try to argue until the heat death of the universe. Case in point, someone thought it would be a good idea to turn off the hardware watchdog 80% of the time because it saves power. Ok, that works until some hardware design glitch results in a race condition which locks up part of the device. While the hardware watchdog could have fixed the issue, the problem occurs when its off, and we can't turn it back on because it'll burn a bit of power. Guess what folks, our poo poo had to work first before we can start optimizing power. Also, no, we can't optimize the power for the software solution we are designing (massive pile of poo poo and the wrong solution because politics) because over optimizing the power usage is what got us into this problem in the first place.

Stockholm Syndrome. There is a local "rotary specialist" who has screwed over a ton of folks yet many of them recommend this "mechanic" to others.
