There was a bat sleeping on a floor joist in the basement of the farmhouse last week. Right behind the washer/dryer, so you had to go say hello to Mr. Batley every time we did laundry. He didn't move for like 36 hours, then I realized that the lights were on the whole time and that was probably loving the poor little guy up. I turned off the lights and 3 hours later he had moved on. He buzzed me a few times one morning when I went to unload the dryer, which was pretty unnerving at first, but you get used to it. My wife flat-out refused to enter the basement without proof that Mr. Batley was either gone or dead.

2000 4Runner has 232k miles, 91 Corolla has 219k. The 6 only has 62k, but we put 1800 miles on it just last week driving to Missouri and back.

Just found out that the security for Mazda's online repository for workshop manuals is so bad that you can find the factory service manual, wiring manual, and body shop manual for every Mazda made since 1996, including 2015 models, just by googling their site for "service manuals". Toyota's TIS seems to be locked down tighter than a dolphin's butthole, but Mazda might as well not bother putting up a pay wall. Not sure how this is, so I'll edit this post if it crosses the line. bandman fucked around with this message at 18:45 on Jun 5, 2014 |

It just boggles my mind that nobody at Mazda has fixed it. I gather that it has been this way for quite some time, so you'd think that somebody would have done something about it by now, but . Maybe this is Mazda's secret way of being more enthusiast-friendly, by providing all of the service information in a *winkwink nudgenudge* kind of way. Or (more likely) they just don't give a flying poo poo.

mariooncrack posted:Maybe they don't know? How much are you supposed to "pay" for those kinds of things? $20/day, $200/month, $1500/year. That seems like a pretty steep price to charge users and not give a poo poo if the whole world can access your information without paying.

I'll be 31 in a month and people consistently guess 25-26 if I haven't mentioned anything about my kids or family. Nobody on my dad's side of the family looks their age at all. My dad turns 67 this year and he's looking more his age these days, but that's mostly due to Parkinson's Disease. His older brother turns 69 this year and honestly looks about 20 years younger than that. I just got a haircut yesterday and the grey hair is coming in fast in my temples. Only one bald relative (mom's brother) and he started going bald at like 23, so I think I missed that gene. My paternal great grandfather lived to 102 and still had a full head of hair when he died, so hopefully I take after that side of the family. Got an interview this afternoon for a job as a lab safety specialist at a college (the college I graduated from, actually). It would be closer to my house, more active and engaging than what I'm doing now, and would be a 40% pay increase for me. Fingers and toes crossed on this one.

You can get around pretty quick with the autobahn if your car is up to it (my rental isn't). The MB museum is pretty awesome. I would also include the Sinsheim Auto und Technik Museum on your tour. I think that's the full name...just Google sinsheim museum. It is the most awesome and impressive collection of cars, trucks, planes, motorcycles, race cars/bikes, and military hardware I've ever seen.

Anything decent that they produce is a result of the blind squirrel -> nut principle. Or the "even a broken clock is right twice a day" principle, whichever you prefer.
