Here's a good one: vs. Yeah yeah I know, Quarterbacks are always the best, etc, but still. e:More commy gun posted:But right now its Speaking of RBs that played for the Rams and Colts, And I can't think of ANYONE else that was a legit contender at 93: Hell, Freeney is the only 93 I can think of that really stands out and I don't think he's taking that from Randle. e: VVV Yeah, Walt definitely wins 71. Unfortunately Largent had to have the same number as Jerry, or he'd be in the talk somewhere... although I guess that would depend on what number he got. Don't think he'd win 81, 84, 88 or 89 either. ^^--Jan Stenerud's a hall of famer! Probably one of the more unfortunate hall of famers but he's in there. Is there a place to look up these things or is everyone just going off of memory here? I mean I can find out what number a guy wore pretty easily but like a list of all guys who wore x? Like, I want to say Priest Holmes might have a shot at 31 just because I can't remember anyone else who was good who wore it even though he doesn't belong with most of the guys we've brought up. Although I'm sure I'm missing someone obvious.

HappyHelmet posted:It's too early to be crowning any of the current Seahawks as best ever really. Yea, which is why I didn't say he was. But when your best at the number is potentially Carson Palmer then it isn't hard to imagine a qb who won a Super Bowl his sophomore season eventually passing him up. Obviously now that more knowledgeable posters have shared some actually good 3s we don't even have to worry about having this discussion.

I know it's written that he wore #3 but I can't find a single picture of it. That's basically why I went with Nagurski. I'd also put Tony Canadeo up there for #3, but he's not beating those two. Especially not Jim Thorpe. He was the best athlete of a generation and it wasn't even close. I'd say the closest we've seen since then was Bo Jackson's short but incredible prime. What number has the worst best player? From that HOF link it seems no Hall of Famer has ever worn 43, 69, 90, 94 or 97. Some pretty good active players wear those numbers though: 43 - Troy Polamalu 69 - Jared Allen 90 - Julius Peppers 94 - Justin Smith 97 - Geno Atkins tanglewood1420 fucked around with this message at 23:31 on Jun 8, 2014 |

tanglewood1420 posted:What number has the worst best player? Jared Allen has 69. I don't know if he'll make the Hall but he's a great player. I can't think of anyone good who's worn 43 except Polamalu. The best 97 I know of is Cullen Jenkins with the Packers and that's nowhere near HoF territory. Same with 90, we've got what, Suh? Only one I can think of. e: And Peppers on the Bears. Did he wear 90 with the Panthers? I honestly can't remember, and he's wearing 56 with the Packers. The only 94 that even comes to mind at all is Justin Smith of the 49ers. Also the HoF link is helpful but not definitive, since I'd put Drew Brees above all the HoF 9's and Brady above all the HoF 12's. e: VVV If he makes the hall I drat sure won't complain. Jared Allen owns. Fenrir fucked around with this message at 23:35 on Jun 8, 2014 |

Jared Allen is absolutely a future HoFer. Maybe not a first rounder, but he's getting in. #69 definitely isn't a pushover with him locking it down. There just isn't depth for the number.

From what I've gathered so far here are the ones I think are obvious or already decided: 1 Warren Moon 3 Bronko Nagurski/Jim Thorpe 4 Brett Favre 5 Donovan McNabb 8 Steve Young 9 Drew Brees 10 Fran Tarkenton 11 Norm Van Brocklin 12 Tom Brady 13 Dan Marino 15 Bart Starr 16 Joe Montana 18 Peyton Manning 20 Barry Sanders 21 Deion Sanders 22 Emmitt Smith 26 Rod Woodson 28 Marshall Faulk 29 Eric Dickerson 30 Terrell Davis 31 Jim Taylor 32 Jim Brown 34 Walter Payton, but damned if I don't want to put Bo Jackson here 35 I'd argue Aeneas Williams but I dunno, y'all could argue that 37 Shaun Alexander 39 Larry Csonka 40 Gale Sayers 42 Ronnie Lott (surprised I haven't seen some Sid Luckman arguments because those would be valid to some degree) 43 Troy Polamalu 47 Mel Blount 50 Mike Singletary 51 Dick Butkus 55 Derrick Brooks 56 Lawrence Taylor 59 Jack Ham 60 Chuck Bednarik 63 Lee Roy Selmon 66 Ray Nitschke 69 Jared Allen 71 Big Walt Jones 72 Dan Dierdorf 80 Jerry Rice 82 Raymond Berry 83 Andre Reed 84 gently caress YOU IT'S STERLING SHARPE 92 Reggie White 93 John Randle 95 Richard Dent 96 Cortez Kennedy 99 gently caress Warren Sapp, JJ Watt will take this eventually.
