It is literally only the british accents that make people think it's not anime. It is more anime than a lot of jrpgs, right down to robot girl/destiny/mascot character that does the idol pose.

What part of localization do you not get, especially when 8-4 has experience with getting the direct word from the writers on what's approved? Is this literally just about asscave?

8-4 gave a breakdown of their localization on their podcast, basically explaining they talked with the creators, used their experience from translating the xenosaga trilogy, and even brought along the guy that did the xenogears translation to be thematically consistent.

Xenoblade is not triple a, despite how it looks. It's close to the tier below Final fantasy, but ain't commanding the resources and money of a mgs5 or assassins creed.
