I bought Pokemon X, got to the second gym, and thought, "I don't wanna get too far in case they finally announce a third gen remake and I get burnt out on Pokemon by the time it comes out." Literally bought a new game and got more excited for the game I've already put a couple hundred hours into, I'm the grog. I got the GBA at launch and wanted to get Castlevania but stuck with Rayman because I didn't want my parents to think that I was getting into the devil (my mom never really got over the DnD moral panic and was under the impression that you played as Diablo in Diablo despite seeing my brother play it and get crushed by the forces of the nine hells), and never really got over it, despite eventually going on to own Circle of the Moon and beating it several times. Back when I was a kid I used to rent lovely licensed games when I ran out of good games to rent and didn't want to continually re-rent an RPG until I finished it. If a lovely licensed game was about something I actually cared about as a preteen, like Harry Potter, I would sometimes buy it. I don't know why I did this, because I knew I wouldn't like what I was getting into, but when you're a kid you just don't get conflict avoidance I guess. Back when The Misadventures of Tron Bonne actually had copies floating around in circulation, I really wanted it because I loved Megaman Legends, but got too scared about it being "too girly" or some poo poo and gave up trying to track down a copy as a result, and now it's stupidly rare and I blame the patriarchy for not letting me expand my rare game collection. This isn't a confession so much as it is tangentially related to that last comment but I have a hard copy of Cubivore I bought near launch that I now lend out to curious friends and it's weirdly empowering.

one time i accidentally cracked my bioshock disc taking it out of the case so i rented a copy from blockbuster and switched their working copy with my broken one. they never marked their discs so they never found out.

I can't stand "art" games or any game using pixel art I despise pvp of any sort in every genre except FPS I play new MMOs despite knowing they will be terrible I like forced stealth sections in most games that have them

every time i've tried deus ex, immediately at the beginning i pick up a weapon that's bugged for some reason and the bug is hard to get rid of so i just shut the game down and play solitaire or tf2 or altitude or something

Not a terrible game though, thanks to the times you got to zipline around shooting dudes in the face. Also, terrible ending.
