Yeah naming your squads is a standard feature in Squad based SRWs, and this game really wants to pretend to be a late PS1 era Super Robot Wars game.

Because in the actual SRWs the way they work is if the unit can enter the terrain type, no matter if they're actually on the terrain or not. Even if that is the case, that only applies to Support Defend. Since taking off and landing is a free action, all you need to do is raise or lower the Support Attacker.

Golden Battler posted:39M is seriously so much better than 39R it's ridiculous. 39R is just like "gently caress you mom give me my new clothes", where-as 39M is this really elaborate character developing chapter. There's the whole question of motivations, her getting shot down, that whole flashback sequence, and the Battle Mastery basically being "yo go check out how loving cool Marisa is now", with the awesome conversations preceding each attack. The pattern of Marisa having the better story continues unabated really.

Also remember that most of them are primarily characterized by a handful of lines of jokey dialogue. The Three Fairies are actually some of the more in depth characters because they've starred in a manga.
