Hi goons. I'm stuck in an office with no windows but I sense a cloud (or two) out there. I'm thinking of checking the window out in the hallway to be certain. If anyone asks why I'm away from my desk, I can lie and say I was going to the supply cabinet for a new, blue ink pen. Would be worth it to verify those clouds the weather man was mentioning. Checked window but boss caught me. I told him I needed a pen but he yelled anyways. Boss yelled so much I pissed my pants but at least I was able to spy a couple stratus clouds peeking up over the tree line.

We had a freak thunderstorm yesterday with 60+mph gusts and penny size hail, according to my UPS the power blinked out at least 14 times in 20 minutes or so without going out completely and I'm certain that that's some kind of new record

Interactive radar shows that a storm's a'rollin in, just as I'm a'ready to roll down to the laundramat. Yeah I'm a poor with no laundry cleaning-drying machines in my house, and it's impossible to park anywhere near the laundrymat. It's about 4 blocks away so I just strap my poo poo to a dolly and wheel it down, but "...maybe tomorrow. (still got some clean underwear even if it is from the Clinton administration. era.) Forecast Discussion SPC AC 210555 DAY 1 CONVECTIVE OUTLOOK NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK 1255 AM CDT SAT JUN 21 2014 VALID 211200Z - 221200Z ...THERE IS A SLGT RISK OF SVR TSTMS TODAY INTO TONIGHT ACROSS MUCH OF THE NORTH CENTRAL PLAINS...EAST SOUTHEASTWARD THROUGH UPPER PORTIONS OF THE MIDDLE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY AND ADJACENT PORTIONS OF THE GREAT LAKES STATES... ...THERE IS A SLGT RISK OF SVR TSTMS TODAY ACROSS THE SOUTHERN MID ATLANTIC COAST REGION... ...SUMMARY... SEVERAL CLUSTERS OF THUNDERSTORMS...CAPABLE OF PRODUCING SEVERE WIND GUSTS AND HAIL...ARE EXPECTED TODAY INTO TONIGHT ACROSS MUCH OF SOUTH DAKOTA AND ADJACENT NORTHERN NEBRASKA. ADDITIONAL STRONG TO SEVERE STORM DEVELOPMENT APPEARS POSSIBLE EAST SOUTHEASTWARD ACROSS IOWA...NORTHERN AND CENTRAL ILLINOIS AND INDIANA...AS WELL AS ACROSS THE SOUTHERN MID ATLANTIC COAST REGION. ...SYNOPSIS... GIVEN THE CURRENT BLOCKING PATTERN...THERE SHOULD BE LITTLE CHANGE TO THE LARGE-SCALE MID/UPPER FLOW REGIME ACROSS THE U.S. THROUGH THIS FORECAST PERIOD. MODELS DO SUGGEST AT LEAST SOME SUPPRESSION OF LOW AMPLITUDE RIDGING NOW BUILDING WITHIN A BELT OF WESTERLIES FROM THE NORTHERN GREAT BASIN INTO THE UPPER MIDWEST AND OHIO VALLEY...TO THE SOUTH OF A REMNANT CLOSED LOW JUST TO THE NORTH OF THE CENTRAL CANADIAN/U.S. BORDER. SLIGHT AMPLIFICATION OF DOWNSTREAM CYCLONIC FLOW ALSO APPEARS LIKELY ACROSS MID ATLANTIC COASTAL AREAS. IN GENERAL THOUGH...IT APPEARS MID-LEVEL HEIGHT CHANGES WILL BE WEAK. A PLUME OF WARMER...AND A BIT MORE STRONGLY CAPPING...ELEVATED MIXED LAYER AIR IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE GRADUALLY ADVECTING NORTHEASTWARD THROUGH THE CENTRAL PLAINS. OTHERWISE...SOUTH OF A FRONTAL ZONE EXTENDING FROM THE SOUTHERN MID ATLANTIC COAST INTO THE GREAT LAKES REGION...ONLY SEASONABLY COOL MID-LEVEL TEMPERATURES WITH WEAK MID-LEVEL LAPSE RATES ARE EXPECTED ABOVE A SEASONABLY MOIST BOUNDARY LAYER. WITH INSOLATION...HOWEVER...MODERATELY LARGE MIXED LAYER CAPE IS POSSIBLE BY LATE AFTERNOON ACROSS PARTS OF THE MID MISSISSIPPI INTO LOWER OHIO VALLEYS...AND ACROSS PARTS OF THE SOUTHEAST. MEANWHILE...BENEATH THE STEEP MID-LEVEL LAPSE RATES ASSOCIATED WITH THE ELEVATED MIXED LAYER AIR...MIXED LAYER CAPE IS AGAIN EXPECTED TO BECOME QUITE LARGE /IN EXCESS OF 3000 J PER KG/ ACROSS PARTS OF THE NORTH CENTRAL PLAINS AND MID MISSOURI VALLEY. ...PLAINS INTO OHIO VALLEY... A REMNANT LOWER/MID TROPOSPHERIC IMPULSE...ASSOCIATED WITH THE ONGOING CLUSTER OF STORMS NOW SPREADING EASTWARD ACROSS THE MID MISSOURI VALLEY...IS EXPECTED TO PROGRESS ACROSS UPPER PORTIONS OF THE MIDDLE MISSISSIPPI VALLEY TODAY...WITHIN MODEST WEST NORTHWESTERLY FLOW. GIVEN THE BOUNDARY LAYER DESTABILIZATION EXPECTED ACROSS EASTERN IOWA INTO NORTHERN/CENTRAL ILLINOIS AND INDIANA...IT SEEMS PROBABLE THAT ASSOCIATED FORCING WILL CONTRIBUTE TO NEW VIGOROUS CONVECTIVE DEVELOPMENT...PERHAPS AS EARLY AS MID DAY. ALTHOUGH DETAILS ARE STILL UNCLEAR...WITH VERTICAL SHEAR EXPECTED TO BE WEAK...ONE OR TWO CLUSTERS OF STORMS COULD EVOLVE THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF THE DAY...WITH POTENTIAL FOR PRODUCING DAMAGING WIND GUSTS...PERHAPS SOME HAIL. DETAILS OF CONVECTIVE EVOLUTION BACK TO THE WEST...ACROSS THE NORTHERN AND CENTRAL PLAINS...ALSO REMAIN UNCLEAR. THIS IS MOSTLY DUE TO THE SUBTLE NATURE OF THE MID-LEVEL IMPULSES EXPECTED TO PROGRESS EAST OF THE ROCKIES...THROUGH THE CREST OF BROADER SCALE MID/UPPER RIDGING. GIVEN THE ANTICIPATED THERMODYNAMIC ENVIRONMENT...POTENTIAL EXISTS FOR FAIRLY INTENSE CONVECTIVE DEVELOPMENT BY LATE AFTERNOON. AND A SIGNAL EXISTS IN MOST MODEL GUIDANCE...SUPPORTED BY THE LATEST HIGH RESOLUTION CONVECTION ALLOWING MODEL OUTPUT...THAT AT LEAST A COUPLE OF SUBSTANTIAL CLUSTERS OF STORMS WILL INITIATE LATE THIS AFTERNOON AND EVENING. HIGHEST SEVERE PROBABILITIES APPEAR TO EXIST ACROSS SOUTH DAKOTA AND ADJACENT NORTHERN NEBRASKA...WHERE VEERING WINDS WITH HEIGHT BENEATH MODEST WESTERLY MID/UPPER FLOW MAY SUPPORT SUPERCELL STRUCTURES...PARTICULARLY PRIOR TO THE MORE SUBSTANTIVE UPSCALE GROWTH. SOME OF THE HAIL IN THE STRONGEST STORMS COULD BECOME QUITE LARGE...BEFORE STRONG WIND GUSTS BECOME THE MORE PROMINENT THREAT THIS EVENING. ...SOUTHERN MID ATLANTIC COASTAL AREAS... DEEP LAYER MEAN FLOW FIELDS AND SHEAR ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN WEAK. HOWEVER...GIVEN THE CONTINUING PRESENCE OF A SEASONABLY MOIST BOUNDARY LAYER...WHICH IS EXPECTED TO SUPPORT MODERATELY LARGE CAPE...FORCING ASSOCIATED WITH AN EAST SOUTHEASTWARD LOWER/MID TROPOSPHERIC WAVE MAY CONTRIBUTE TO CONSIDERABLE THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY TODAY ACROSS THE PIEDMONT INTO COASTAL PLAIN. WHILE THE RISK FOR SEVERE HAIL SEEMS NEGLIGIBLE...POTENTIALLY DAMAGING WIND GUSTS MAY ACCOMPANY STRONGER STORMS. ..KERR/DEAN.. 06/21/2014 CLICK TO GET WUUS01 PTSDY1 PRODUCT NOTE: THE NEXT DAY 1 OUTLOOK IS SCHEDULED BY 1300Z CURRENT UTC TIME: 0851Z (3:51AM), RELOAD THIS PAGE TO UPDATE THE TIME
