# ? Jun 27, 2014 10:51 |
hey that would result in 3 and a half grands worth of savings over a kilometer. thats not to be sneezed at
# ? Jun 27, 2014 10:52 |

# ? Jun 27, 2014 11:00 |
you should at least buy that much to take advantage of the savings

# ? Jun 27, 2014 11:21 |
that elite internet connected laundry set that came out during the slim period where interenet laundry was a thing but wireless wasnt yet
# ? Jun 27, 2014 11:38 |

# ? Jun 27, 2014 12:07 |
ok then you've already decided you need the cat6 so the real question is, how long until you realise it was a poor decision?
# ? Jun 27, 2014 12:11 |
no look at the title it is whether I should the last post was on the question of need. I have some very important decision so make and he pressure is on
# ? Jun 27, 2014 12:13 |

do your laundry appliances have a REST api can they notify you when they're done spinning
# ? Jun 27, 2014 12:18 |
hosed if I know one is a Samsung and the dryer is a haier but we hardly use that because of all the sunshine plus the deep freeze was the cheapest one available in its size at the local mitre 10
# ? Jun 27, 2014 12:21 |
Yes put cat 6 everywhere, why is this even a question
# ? Jun 27, 2014 18:05 |
what's wrong with fibre other than the way it makes you have to do more laundry
# ? Jun 27, 2014 18:55 |
put the cat6 outlet in the closet in your laundry room and stick your dumb router and nas and blink blop lights in there and shut/seal the closet door shut

yes install a cat6 in your laundry. even if you can't find a internet washing mashine you can at least put in a webcam and use it to check if your laundry is done.

flakeloaf posted:what's wrong with fibre fiber equipment costs 10x as much as copper and doesn't provide any benefit over short distances (cat6a can do 10GB ethernet over 100m and regular cat6 can get away with it if you don't care about standards)

gnrk posted:put the cat6 outlet in the closet in your laundry room and stick your dumb router and nas and blink blop lights in there and shut/seal the closet door shut this is dumb because unless you get a weatherproof box you're subjecting your gear to way more moisture/lint than it really needs

at my old house the laundry room was at the center of the first floor and it had unfinished walls so I wired everything via that and put the router in there sadly no one makes a decent router lint trap
# ? Jun 27, 2014 19:50 |
actually all that stuff is in the laundry room at my new house too, it's a bigger room tho and is more a storage room with laundry machines than a laundry room per se
