Christ this sounds good coming from Wushu's 350-800ms, ~230 with Battleping, even the latter being a situational yet insurmountable handicap in any serious PvP. With how much I loved (and loved to hate) AoW, I don't know if I can resist creating a Wu-tang! :ohdear:

I used to triple box poo poo like script stealing and spy missions in AoW and it was easy as hell, thanks to the click-to-move/autopilot functions. Looks like those are included here as well, to some extent. Anyone with experience in multiboxing the client, are there any limitations/issues one should know about?

So, uhh, looks like a member of a guild whose name bears a striking resemblance to Wushu's VietUnited isn't pulling any punches verbally owning the evil & rude Goontang on global chat. That's beautiful, looks like we have rivals.

But why would viets play on USEast? They can read right

Not sure how I'd feel about tanking in PVE

So far at level 52 there is no such thing as PvE tanking, it's not really possible to have conventional MMO tank threat generation with the tools we currently have at our disposal. Not sure if this will change at higher levels, but that's now. In the instances I've seen, a Wutang's role is to deal (high) AoE damage while herding mobs together with their strong CC pulls.

Wutangs own and as "tanks" they can deal shitloads of damage too, so don't worry about that, but if you want to be a unique snowflake they are by far the most popular class in the guild. Once I get to making an alt, I'm going Infinity.

e: If you want to pick a utilitarian guild PvP school, I think we've been complaining the most about Shaolin and Tong, neither of which are too represented in Goontang. They really ruined our day when we were attacking United's guild base.

Has anyone done PvP cart raiding, by the way? What I think I know is that isn't limited by the 3/day rule, much like open world kidnapping. How does it work exactly, can we just attack and kill the escort's team leader to get to raid the cart? Does this cost infamy? Can we have multiple teams doing this to a single cart? I was thinking positioning a group of six to keep watch of six zones' cart departure points might result in us finding plenty of carts to raid around prime time. Idly dick around until someone finds one, gather up, kill poo poo. Maybe you can grind some mobs on the road while waiting.

If they offer similar (or better!) rewards to NPC hijacking, a good cart raiding setup might be a great way to get guild credit/development/gold/XP, everything we want basically. And instead of six-manning mobs you could easily kill solo, you get to kill people. This is while leveling is getting tougher and tougher thanks to mirage/vermin portals being in such short supply.

I play Infinity. It's kind of poo poo. The fire damage buff is fairly crap, the heal is prettty nice though. Once you get to level 40 you finally get a grab and some other nice stuff. If you count a skill that acupunctures as a counter, Infinity has two. Not that it matters because the pure acupuncture move isn't very good (short range, manually aimed, you jump back past your starting position which is kind of nice but it's out of range of the only ranged attack in that set. Custom set fixes this.) and the only time a player will hit your counter is in group pvp or if they're a complete retard.

Part of it may be that I suck.

Our first reaction to getting our asses kicked against United a couple days back was, Wutangs weren't that good at group pvp, and that we had too many of them. This was basically consensus.

What I mean is when half the people in our guild don't even know what a "counter" is, expecting your dude to be trivialized by perfectly optimal play, by everyone who isn't a complete retard no less, might be a bit dishonest. All you need to do is not hit the guy, right! From what I hear, Infinity is a highly competitive 1v1 brawler, no idea about large scale fights. I plan to make one sooner or later to find out.

I also wish that this game would allow Mutli Client, IT would be cool to bot your main acc and you level an alt with a different acc you know!

It's "allowed" globally, as far as I call tell, for all PWE games with two clients per IP. A seemingly unenforced limitation. The problem is, the Great Upgrade to the new and improved Arc client carried the unintentional downside (upsides still unclear) of preventing that poo poo, to be fixed in the future as per some support response months ago. Wouldn't get my hopes up.

You can work around this by running virtual machines if you want, but unlike in AoW, you'll rarely feel you're missing out by not running an entire server farm of dudes. Except, of course, once you crash into those server farms running vermin/mirage. Right now I'm looking at a bot magnate's stall account with close to 2000 socketing stones and embed charms for sale :sigh:

I have my doubts whether PWE gives a gently caress even if you run five clients, but two is the amount they explicitly allow. If you don't want to risk getting banned, think twice about those mirage/vermin farming groups. I'll probably get one going anyway, get banned and just cry and bitch and moan myself out of it for "not knowing these draconian rules" :greenangel:

where is the best place to find refining stones?

Don't worry about them, you can only earn so few and so slowly that they're not much more than a byproduct of going through the harmonious world event (eg. "watch TV and click autopilot" quests). The best way for earning item upgrades is through botting regular rear end mobs, placing all the green gear you find into the enhancement grinder. Depending on how good your bot is, you should probably expect 250-500(+) points' worth of upgrading per hour. You can also automate the upgrading through your bot setup interface.

Guild boons gain the most if you just have base stats, so willpower, strength, reflex, tenacity, or constitution.

Equipment seems to use similar stat budgets as guild boons do, so the same applies here: you primarily want base stats over anything else for your gear, the difference in stat value is sizable. +Health might be the one exception that can be situationally comparable to CON efficiency, but at least for Wutang, 32 health per constitution, CON rolls with something like 10% more health than flat +health does. And you get the chi on top.

With my Shaolin, this value is 7.6. And 1 STR = 2.25 critical.

Using these numbers with three stat rolls you might get in a piece of level 50 hero's order gear:

44STR
365 exo attack
99 crit

OR

52 crit

OR

270 exo attack

... so base stats own basically.

e: oh woops, one of those numbers is for Shaolin and the other Harmony. Fixed for 8.3/2.25 of Harmony.

Because of world energy, you can't just leave your bot on for the weekend and expect to become Goku. Once it reaches zero, you can no longer gain XP from killing mobs in world zones. Ideally (if your bot is strong enough) you want to be grinding "elite" mobs with 2x health bars, as they're more experience per energy - areas with these mobs are marked on zone maps. Some schools can bot in dungeons for even higher efficiency. For a rough estimate, at 58 I get 3.5 million experience by botting through the 100 energy that recharges daily, so at 45, you might expect something like two levels for emptying a full pool of 200.

Even without the XP you really want to be botting, as it's the only really efficient way to upgrade your gear, your bot can automatically upgrade your poo poo with the green loot it collects. Same goes for getting base crafting ingredients, you get them by botting.

But yeah, with a good setup you shouldn't need to babysit anything. My Wutang can bot a solid 900k experience per hour with 1x XP and no consumables. If you have a healing skill, get a chi regenerating companion and build a setup that can be sustained through that. You can go catch a drillmaster in the pokemon taming zone right now, you should go do that. Or just craft/buy a buttload of potions/food, slot some skills and go to sleep.

The bot XP, while not negligible, is nowhere near a requirement for leveling (much less "the best way"). It will never be that unless they multiply the amount of world energy we get. You do need botting if you want to keep your gear upgraded, unless you want to manually grind thousands of mobs instead. That's always an option if you're looking for the best way, as it's faster.

It's honestly a bit silly to feel morally conflicted about using a thing that the game has designed for you to use.

//

Here's my bot's skill setup, it should serve any Wutang pretty well. I could probably add a new skill to it now that I have a lot more chi to play with than ten levels ago, but it kills everything so fast that I haven't really bothered. A helpful tip is to start your bot in the middle of a X shaped spawn formation, where you're standing on top of one spawn in the middle of the X. The total of five spawns is usually enough to make sure you have stuff to kill, while minimizing the time you move between spawns.

I still think Wushu had a lot of cool things going for it that this game doesn't have, but Swordsman is actually a functional video game the way it's looking. Whether it turns into a 50 000$ P2W player paradise at higher levels is still hard to tell (heard some scary things about china and lvl6 gems), but right now the cash shop is quite generous, and combat is almost as fun as in Wushu. Its PvE content is more straightforward trash -> boss -> trash -> boss -> loot than Wushu, and PvP has a different complexity to it with the rock-paper-scissors play of counter/grab/acupuncture skills. Not that much flying around. If you enjoyed how much of Wushu's content had an irremovable PvP aspect to it, you might be disappointed to find Swordsman's world events are largely detached from PvP, and guild wars seem to be mostly for bragging rights. This might be fleshed out a bit in the coming months, who knows.

By most accounts it's a better game that feels a lot like Wushu, yes, but it's still quite a bit different. If you liked Wushu, you'll probably like Swordsman. If you wanted to like Wushu but couldn't, this might also work. If you give it a go, reserve judgment for the first 40 levels, that's pretty much a way extended "babby's first MMO" tutorial.

@Ihki: I was reading about gems in the Chinese websites. It's not really P2W so much as 'one dude is going to spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars to get something a few weeks faster than everyone else'; They don't sell anything better than what we currently have in the cash shop. Higher level gems are more readily available and if you sell your unused gems and buy the ones you need (or just trade them), level 5/6 gems aren't that difficult to get.

(I was talking to our guild's Tangchao for my source of concern)

Hasn't the game been out for something like a year in China? I guess that's reassuring if they're still not selling anything above T3 gems. I suspect T2 gem pouches will start dropping at the level 60 range of Mirage (this might mean T3s are 90+), as we're now starting to see them on the RMT stalls of the Luo Yang market. This should go a long way in bridging the gap between the common folk and the (somewhat) sane T3 gemmed cash shoppers.

e: another educated guess for gem tier levels is from looking at embed/socketing gem level ranges: tier 1s upgrade level 1-59 gear, tier 2s go up to level 109. Could mean T3 gems drop from level 110 onwards.

If he hates one of our officers (who is right now organizing an invasion to Zhou's base), why not just let him have a grudge against us. What other reason do you need
