The scenery in the Tour Down Under will be a bit different this year. Both stage 1 & 3 go through areas burnt by bushfires.

It's not a sprint finish, there is no obligation on riders to 'hold their line'. I think you're going a bit far saying this is negligence, Kiryenka is on the front of the bunch and he swings off assuming that since he is at the front of the bunch everyone will see him moving and get out of the way. Kadri has his head down and doesn't see. It's an accident, that kind of swing-off-the-front move happens hundreds of times in any given bike race.

Except there were 2 lines of riders and he's veered straight into the path of the 2nd line.

Did you even watch it? Kadri was on the front of his own line.

Same thing happened during the TDU pre-race criterion. Some spectators managed to hold it up before the peleton arrived on that lap though.

I expect an inordinate amount of flares, or for the race not to happen as the whole Olympics have been shut down due to mass scale rioting (I'm not sure how many days in the race is)

Usually the road race is early in the Olympics with track stuff in the second week.

e: Day 1: Men's road race
Day 2: Women's road race
Day 5: Men & Women's time trial
Day 6+: Track events, etc
