I am a bit loath to say it because I'm not really one of his fans, but it really was an admirable finish from Nibali. The bunch with Sagan couldn't get their poo poo straight. Great stage overall, the profile was just the kind I like to see.

serious gaylord posted:Its the only thing they can do now. No chance at the sprint and they have no-one to go after any of the jerseys. Might as well get some TV coverage. Yep. I have no idea who's supposed to challenge Kittel in a bunch finish. I liked the pull that Tony Martin made in the end, though, and hats off to Voeckler of course for breaking away over almost the entire stage.

To hell with Framegate or whatever. Keep in mind this is the company that sued for ownership of the word "Roubaix"... Also, I'm going to my barbershop and asking for The Peter Sagan straight away.

What happened to Sagan is basically exactly how he dropped the earlier stage to Nibali. He just sort of stood there arguing with the break while somebody else went for it. Welp, he's guaranteed green jersey so I guess that's decent?

TraderStav posted:It's my first time watching the tour (and flying today so unable to watch the final stage). Looking at the stage profile it looks like they do eight loops at the end? Is this right? What's the significance of this? This is correct. It's basically for public spectacle - the loops are in the heart of Paris, so the fans on the Champs Élysées get to see the race go by eight times. It also allows the sprint to get sorted out. They don't really do any serious pulling before the peloton arrives at the start of the loop section.

Russian Bear posted:It has to be a pursuit legal bike. Tossing things off a bike probably breaks some obscure UCI rule. I'd be surprised if Voigt doesn't get this one (Sosenka's record 49 something). He's a good TTer, the bike technology has come a long way. He won't beat Chris Boardman's 56 though - which is not a UCI legal record or whatever. Ok those wheels are loving incredible.

I'm watching in French on RDS, the commentary is so bad compared to Eurosport: they've spent like ten minutes on the phone with a Ridley rep talking about disc brakes instead of observing the race. Also, high five to bilingualism, overcoming the drought of cycling coverage in North America and inconsistent pirate streaming. strangemusic fucked around with this message at 13:55 on Apr 5, 2015 |
