Sky doesn't even want to win the tour with an englishman. edit: I do think Yorkshire could be a great spot for a one day classic by the looks of it. DONT TOUCH THE PC fucked around with this message at 14:17 on Jul 7, 2014 |

Mr.Nice posted:Mollema also caught in the crash it seem. Mollema apparently only had to unclip, it was Froome alone who went down on the tarmac. edit: the new head of the UCI points at football as an inspiration of getting more money into the sport. He's kinda ignoring the amount of teams that are in financial troubles at lower levels or the ones that are merely toys for a bunch of rich people.

Last year we got echelons that created an upset, now we get normal weather conditions for northern france that created one. It appears that mountain stages and time trials are the boring stages these days.

TV commentators saying that the tour might not return here for quite some time. But I'm certain the rain is more of a problem than the cobbles, since most people fell before the first section had appeared.

GrimSqueaker posted:That was the most epic Tour stage I've seen in years. Reminded me of Giro 2010. I do hope so, this was a fun stage and nibali surprised everyone with his cobbleskills, while Contador who was considered to be better prepared was left in the dust.

Both are also decent timetrialists and have had a shorter season than most of the others in the pack. Also: they didn't have any punctures. edit: also what dema said, working together does help. DONT TOUCH THE PC fucked around with this message at 21:11 on Jul 9, 2014 |

The Mash posted:Tbf Froome could never ride bikes. He's a great athlete (or responds to doping well at least) but he's a terrible cyclist skill-wise. Compare him to someone like Cancellara who is a loving wizard on a bicycle. Froome is also a whiny bitch and if you get in 3 crashes in 2 days, it's not just bad luck, you had poor control of your bike or bad positioning relative to other riders. In my mind Froome is still the rider that ran into an official on the first turn of his time trial. Someone already posted that video. :-)

Dirk Pitt posted:What's going on here? Is sky trying to manage two talented riders and Froome gets dibs on stuff? Again, the belgian commentators were talking about how Froome claimed in his book that he was given the freedom in 2012 to race as fast as he could and then how both wiggo or steven de jong claimed they knew nothing about that. They said that if that was true, Sky is a horrible managed team. DONT TOUCH THE PC fucked around with this message at 15:53 on Jul 11, 2014 |
