if it's so easy to get on welfare and be taken care of for life on the government dime without working, why doesn't everybody just go ahead and do so? let's be honest working kind of sucks compared to just about anything you would do with that time of your own volition, so if you work for a living you are a lot stupider than those illegals living the high life on benefits

Most Americans think that it's a good thing they don't even look into what those benefits are actually. All they hear is free food and free healthcare and they think the person is making enough outside of food and healthcare that they can afford basically anything at all. The people who have these opinions and also work the jobs that the benefits are set up for generally have massive pride issues. It's kind of like how we cut NASA's budget or people say that we are spending money "up there". They have no idea that the percentage everyone pays to NASA is less than 1% and there are so many spinoffs every year from NASA doing things they actually publish an encyclopedia for it called "spin-offs". Ya know I think I know a solution to this here immigrant problem. Now these immigrants want our jobs, right? An they want to just get the american way of life for FREE, while not giving up their burrito-eating, drug-dealing, godless catholicism and their fake language in which they just scramble English words around an then attach vowels at the end? Well, if they want jobs we'll give em, but they have to earn our freedoms by working for free (because freedom ain't free) and by going to special, segregated (to protect ourselves, of course) areas where they are forced to adopt the ways of american life or be deported (of course after serving out their labor). Give em any kind of work, picking fruit, treating sewage, medical and military experiments, whatever. I think that's a reasonable, final solution to the mexican question. -Spokesman for Newt Gingrich for President 2016 America Inc. fucked around with this message at 04:49 on Jul 4, 2014 |

So putting aside the obvious racism of the OP for a moment, I'm pretty sure Obama actually is "securing your borders." http://online.wsj.com/articles/on-immigration-obama-to-move-to-bolster-border-security-1404153935 quote:Mr. Obama is asking Congress to act on a separate immigration proposal meant to stem the recent surge in children and families from Central America crossing the southern border, which on Monday the president called an "urgent humanitarian challenge.'' He plans to request more than $2 billion to detain families and bolster border security, and he wants a change in law so that the administration can return certain children more quickly to their home countries. "I mean he wants to grant work permits to some of those dirty mexicans who are already here AND he's only spending $2 billon more on border security? He's practically leaving the gates wide open." Hilarious how even the most minor of suggested reforms that STILL involve dumping tons of funds into the Glorious Seperation Barrier get called out as leaving the borders unguarded.

Then we can proceed with the Americanization of South America! We will have to have good followers of the light form into bands that can enforce this new ideal. Surely for the sake of identification we will have to make them wear some sort of uniform color on their shirts. I vote brown.

I'd honestly be curious to see this sort of poll in 6-10 years. It is easy to blame and hate Obama as the current embodiment of policies and ideology you hate (real or otherwise), but time heals. Even for someone has bad as GWB it seems (though that rating, even after all this time is still amazing).

Yeah after Hillary is inevitably elected not because of who she is but because of who her opponent is we will see everyone who hated Obama shift to sexist comments instead of racist ones and that poll will just shift to compensate. Watch her get blamed for 9/11.

Rollofthedice posted:For some reason, it's harder for people to blame faces that are dead or retired. I think it's because doing so comes with the implication that humanity's actions have long-term consequences, and that can be uncomfortable in a lot of ways. Like other posters are saying, the fact that GWB is still so reviled even after six years is very telling. I think you're over thinking it. Humans just don't like to speak ill of the dead, with a few exceptions. THe number of Republicans who will scream bile about Carter and Clinton does prove this forgiveness isn't automatic on retirement. Or that Republicans just have no sense of shame. Both works, really. Here is an article on that poll. The only thing this poll tells us is that in the minds of Republicans Ronald Reagan is Jesus and Barack Obama is Satan. They will hate him intensely forever and for any and no reason. That racist quip about Hispanics is laughable as well considering it's a business's decision to advertise in Spanish in order to try and get business from them. Hello, I am not from America but it certainly seemed that the Republican congress have been trying to stall everything Obama has been trying to do but then says he's not achieved anything. It's typical short-term thinking in order to win the next election rather than trying to actually change your country for the better. Is that a fair assessment?
