Everyone was hating on Ferg before Trap Lord dropped but I told you :colbert:

Yeah I was so pleasantly surprised by Trap Lord, kinda wrote him off as another weed carrier but Trap Lord ended up being my most listened to album since XXX.

After getting into Trap Lord I gave that lackluster A$AP Mob mixtape a few more spins and honestly Ferg's tracks are such standouts (with the exception of Way It Go but that's just because of the production)

Honestly the Taylor Swift thing was a moment of real honesty. That Single Ladies video was one of the most iconic videos of the last few years and from what I remember that Swift video was uninspired and generic as hell. I can't even remember what it was about, that's how generic it was.

To see a much more deserving video get passed over for one that was objectively better and having the balls to go up and call out the entire award ceremony on their bullshit might have been rude, but it took guts/ Everyone knew Beyonce had the better video. A black man seeing a black artist get passed over for a less deserving white artist could easily also been something that would have fired up Kanye's decision. What he was saying was "this decision is wrong and everyone knows it" and he was 100% right.

Of course that kinda all fell to poo poo when Beyonce went on to win Best Overall Video but Ye didn't know that at the time. Not saying it wasn't kinda rude to Swift but Kanye's interruption was a huge bit of honesty at a moment that no one could ignore and he probably knew full well what the media's response to that incident would be (after seeing him live a few times he's honestly one of the most self-aware dudes I've heard).

Honestly even the worst pop rap these days is still lot better than the B.O.B/laser-era Lupe style super-clean/big chorus sound that started getting really popular around 2009-2011. Also the recent focus on Atlanta has been really interesting to watch over the last few years although it's made for some great songs, it's yet to deliver some really great solid albums (DS2 a possible exception).

Speaking of Atlanta, how did ILoveMakonnen blow up from a Drake cosign and still hasn't even looked at releasing a full length.

i used to love BG but he just comes across a bit 'old man yells at cloud' these days, he's still funny but he has this really outdated view of hip hop. still, i'll give him credit for coming around on drake a bit when drake started making really good music.

Danny Brown - 30

What are rap songs like 30 that similarly end its album the same way as 30 does?

Eminem's Rabbit Run kinda fits the category of "An album closer that gets more frenzied and emotional as it goes on as the rapper talks about the desperation of becoming successful to avoid their lovely life in Detroit"

Also going by Vince's twitter he's very aware of the Norf Norf rant video and kinda spoke on it in the most boring-yet-sensible-and-correct way possible.

I still listen to Outlet regularly, Desiigner is at his best at high energy. LOD isnt terrible but completely unmemorable, especially after taking so long to come out.

New Royce is good, the good song to filler ratio on this one is better than most of his other projects. Lot of family talk which is fine cause he does it well.
