Nah It's really gotta be Reks, Edo G, or Big Shug for best Boston rapper. I legitimately don't know if I would ever even think about Mt Lif again if you hadn't mentioned him. Termonology is pretty good too. Boston is pretty awful for rap though. I guess guys in the 90s used to hate rapping in Boston because the crowds were way too rowdy and would get in fights with the rappers. I forget if it was Biggie or someone else but I know a rapper got the Diddy Steve Stoute champagne bottle to the head treatment at their own show and rappers pretty much boycotted doing shows in Boston. City still stinks for rap shows and rappers. And related, Benzino apparently had a lot of pull with Boston gangs and was significantly responsible with the crime rate drop in the 90s when BPD cracked down on crime 7 RING SHRIMP fucked around with this message at 23:13 on Oct 7, 2014 |

They are easily the best rap group out right now though? Black Hippy doesn't do anything, A$AP Mob had an awful mixtap and can't even put together another project, and Odd Future...well... All the one-off songs they've released since getting back together has been awesome and Beauty of Independence was really good. 50 can still hold his own, Banks never fell off, Young Buck makes Flocka and Meek mill sound like they're on tranquilizers, Yayo is still one of the most entertaining hype men and rappers ever, and Kidd Kidd has stepped it up considerably. One of the best groups ever.

Game will never be part of G-Unit again because it's way deeper than rap. He aligned himself with Jimmy Henchman who had Yayo's moms house shot up and the same guy that got Pac shot in 94. (edit: I misread your post and thought you said you thought Game was gonna be back when they reunited. Yeah it either could have been too crowded or made them easily the biggest rap group of the 2000s even though they pretty much already were) Yayo wasn't always an eh rapper: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RM7HnRnXc4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eNyYqbaLFv8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bztXQzHLLM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01IeeWUy574 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aj5JzTwGNJo 7 RING SHRIMP fucked around with this message at 03:20 on Oct 14, 2014 |

It's overhyped on the internet for sure. It's one of those albums that the really vocal internet music nerds love. It's a blog album. Whether it's intended to be an album that reddits hip hop section or not(almost certainly not) it really resonates with them for whatever reason (which is hilarious). It's angry, anti-establishment, "funny", weird, well-produced, in your face, which is everything internet weirdos love and aspire to be but aren't. I have solved the album and the internet, Thank you god bless

I still think Jay Z is seriously overrated but that's not exactly a popular opinion I think. Yeah that's why it sold 500k first week and went platinum after the million digital sales with Samsung. But Jay Z is irrelevant and totally fell off and no one really likes reasonable doubt and blah blah blah
