Dead Space took the gameplay and turned it back into more serious direction, then 2 went into full on action movie, then 3 into poo poo.

I'm actually perfectly fine with Dead Space 3 pushing into straight-up action, because there wasn't a lot left to be scared of. Isaac knows how Necromorphs work and how to stop them as much as the player does, so it just becomes contrived forcing him into another rapidly-infecting ship and expecting Isaac to be afraid of it all for a third time. Stomping in prepared with weapons he's crafted to murder the poo poo out of Necromorphs makes a whole lot more sense.

How about you loving stay away from ghost-rear end mountain or at the very least come back when it's the middle of the goddamn day you inebriate

They all have reasons for wanting to go to the mountain, and they're all supernatural ones so going in the day gets them nothing. Nevermind that it's made clear later on that various ghosts are influencing at least two of the three to get them up there each night.

Animatronic humans would be perfect to try that with though. Like fully 3D-modeled in a fully-rendered world with full freedom of movement. And make them animated the way animatronics are now, with little wire rods underneath rubber skin that contort the faces in weird and creepy ways. But the rubber skin has a ton of ultra-realistic detail like individual hairs and "pores" and all that.

Or have them animated like normal mocapped faces but then something "breaks" and you get weird unnatural facial tics when they go hostile.

FNaF works because it's pre-rendered, I think. You can't get a feel for how they're behaving or what they might suddenly do, and it's frankly unsettling when you catch a glimpse of them coming after you (eg; catching the fox just booking it down the hall to the security room on camera). If you use full 3D models the mystery goes right out the window once you can identify Animations #1-10.

Ran into a fun bug in the Dead Space remake that caused the Necromorphs to vanish in Medical, save for their belt. Also caused the babies to lose their tentacles and be essentially neutered, so that made for a nice peaceful sprint for a spell to knock out a sidequest :allears:.

Specifically the jog to knock out the DNA sample of the Hunter. What looked to have triggered it was a Necromorph somehow being in the Security station and getting disabled as I physically entered the room taking out EVERY Necromorph instead.

Well I'd be enjoying Dead Space Remake more if it wasn't straight-up broken. There's a loading bug that can cause enemies to disappear and items to fall through the floor. Reloading a save usually fixes it, unless you're in Chapter 10 where it triggers regularly, and reloading saves in certain places gets you a black screen.

And apparently this bug has existed since it released.

Also been playing 𝚆𝙾𝚁𝙻𝙳 𝙾𝙵 𝙷𝙾𝚁𝚁𝙾𝚁, it's good but the default Skeptic playthrough absolutely does not prepare you for the real thing. I breezed through a couple of playthroughs on it then hit quick play on Cultist, and was dead before I reached the end of the first mystery. Still a fun game, looking forward to dying in new and inventive ways!

Finally got a chance to play Lethal Company with a friend and we had a pretty great time with it, wonderful game to play blind and bounce ideas with a friend on what the heck you should be doing. Notable moments were when we got really paranoid about the giant pumpkins on Assurance, since they move when you enter and exit the building and we didn't check the patch notes to see that they were seasonal decorations, and a moment where we got cornered by a giant spider and both elected to just jump to our deaths rather than be eaten by it. The progression in the game is wildly different from what I was expecting, I didn't think the game would have a failure state that essentially sends you to a fresh start. It'll be cool to play around with it more once our other friends pick it up and we can tackle it with a full team.
