Dredd was seriously good, if just for the fact that they respected the comic as much as they did. It's everything the Stallone version wasn't.

I've said it many a time, but if you dudes liked Dredd you gotta check out The Raid and The Raid 2. The Raid 2 is easily the most violent movie I've seen in a long time.

Raid 2 runs a little long and feels loose compared to the first, but who fuckin' cares when the stunts are that god damned ridiculous.

Raid 2 was pretty goddamn disappointing if you ask me. I mean drat, within the first 10 minutes they pulled all the stops to push the reset button on the plot that Raid 1 set up, which could have been some actually decent brother-against-brother kung fu The Departed 2: Thailand Boogaloo action BUT NO instead we get some comically evil moustache-twirlers with henchmen who drop like flies compared to Raid 1, where they actually gave the good guys a run for their money. We had moments of tension between gun battles/machete fights in Raid 1 when the SWAT team members were fugitives in the building they were supposed to be raiding, but Raid 2 is just action scene after disconnected action scene, none of which approaches the simple inhuman brutality and flawless choreography of the hallway machete fight in 1. The Raid 2's action is decent-to-good, but the only thing it took from The Raid 1 is the name. e: gently caress, mad about movies Eugene V. The Raid 2 really should have been the same thing but not make it Rama. I mean they had the same Beast dude come in for a different role, why not the main dude? His story with his brother was complete and The Malaysian Departed is something different. But good god were those fight scenes in 2 something brutal. Fantastic choreography Block off enough time if you're gonna watch it. It is loving long.

Anyone have any experience with ditching cable and going streaming only? I got pissed at Time Warner today and cancelled my cable, and now I'm seeing what my options are for tv. I have a chromecast and an xbox for now, but I've heard good things about the Roku too. And the HD over the airways antennas sounds pretty cool too. loving $200 a month for cable and internet? gently caress you TWC, I'm out.

I did it a year ago when I was at Fry's and saw an HD antenna I could stick on my window for $15. I figured that if it worked fine, I'd drop cable. I have to adjust it now and then but it works good for me. I installed plex on my PC, installed a bunch of the channels(the unsupported app store, ss plex, etc). There's also a plex channel for http://www.letmewatchthis.ae/, and all their other related sites. We also do Hulu Plus. Kids all know how to find what they want to watch. Last time I was at a hotel, I hooked my laptop up to the TV that night and just streamed stuff of my PC through the plex website. It was well worth dropping cable. I'm also getting a few good channels from OTA that you don't get through the regular cable lineup. For sports, if you do a search, you'll find a bunch of sites that stream it and you can push that out to your chromecast.

Roku is great, but I don't think I'd bother if you've got a console that'll link up to the big streaming apps. Unless there's a specific roku channel you want. I've got OTA HD, a 360, and Roku. I'd at least give it a shot. Worst case, you decide you want tv again and since you're a new customer you get a better deal.
