You are allowed to like those artists, but the Drive-by Truckers, and Jason Isbell are Americana not country. Americana is what music enthusiasts have taken to calling country music that doesn't suck. Kenny Rogers is country, Johnny Cash is Americana. There is a duality to everything in the south that typically gets lost on us northerners, but for every really lovely, derivative, pop-country star there is someone cranking out music that is all heart.
