Just sat back and watched that vid when the email came through.

It's fun to see these guys still rocking out as old men. The retrospective images in this video fit the song well, and I especially like the final shot of the ceiling with all of the band members - living and dead - mildly cartoonified.

EDIT: a shameful snype. Here's the audio for Money Shot. Agreed - looking forward to the video for this one.

AC/DC performing Meltdown live back in 2000 in Phoenix, Arizona. Definitely not a song they did live often at all, but it sounds fantastic here.

An album autographed by Bon, Phil, and Mark Evans is up for auction. As Bon is wont to do, he included a rather lecherous inscription (see album front cover for context). :wiggle:

From a friend of Brian's:

"Brian has some great stories from that period in his life. I had some mugs made with his old business card on them and gave some to Brian. When I went to see him a few months ago, he made me a cup of tea in one of them."

New Rolling Stone interview with Brian, promoting his new (largely pre-AC/DC) autobiography.

https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/acdc-brian-johnson-book-lives-of-brian-interview-1234614329/

quote:

I just wanted to write a nice, joyful book, giving a little bit of the history of northeast England and what it was like to travel in a band. You know, to have a French customs officer slap a latex glove on and hear the squelch of the loving gel as he’s looking for drugs up your rear end, which were never there. It’s the things you do for rock & roll.

Also a brief Good Morning America interview, where he says he contemplated killing himself after nearly losing his hearing.

Also available read by Brian himself - https://www.audible.com/pd/The-Lives-of-Brian-Audiobook/0063046474

Also, here's a Razors Edge-era one-page Brian interview, has some good tidbits:

^ The Young family is notoriously private. The only thing Angus has ever really opened up about was Malcolm's dementia, and only when his condition got too severe to be kept under wraps.

Angus did have one fairly extensive interview from his home to promote Power Up, presumably because Australia was locked up tight and he wanted something to do. But ordinarily, he's almost a ghost offstage, and pretty much all rumours are false because nothing gets out until Angus lets it get out. It's part of why the band's logo has WAY more mindshare than any members of the band.

It's business as usual, though it is a bit odd that AC/DC is the only major act not touring ATM. My best guess is that there are still enough snags with COVID restrictions that Angus doesn't want to bother dealing with them.

Man that's a hell of a lineup, but I'm certainly not up for the expense and fatigue of attending a three day music festival.

I thought Ozzy wasn't even performing anymore, much less AC/DC.

Should be an awesome time for anyone privileged enough to go.

Speaking of, I'd be pretty surprised if they do something big like this without Brian back, but I'm very surprised it's happening at all. I wonder how or why? Last I checked he basically had to choose between performing or going deaf.

Does anyone even know for sure it won't be Axl filling in again? Guns N' Roses is one of the headliners after all.

I agree, but I think you have to take the idea of seeing AC/DC perform again with the concession that Brian is getting old with a lifetime of vocal strain and is also probably relatively out of practice at this stage.

It’s the same for any rock band of that era that’s still actively touring. Hard rock frontmen don’t tend to age too well. The vocal style calls for performance that age and strain don’t hold up well to.

So pumped. That gave me chills. Even though it needs to be turned to 11, and I'm disappointed no Rudd. He's in the promotional shots so that's a let down.

I'm going down to PowerTrip from BC and am just counting the days.
