All this photo reminds me is that in the span of 10 years, Barca went from no sponsor and decrying putting a sponsor on THE SACRED BLAUGRANA to having three (3) sponsors on their shirt, including one on the inside.

(It means "I have purged you again!", and of course he wore it against Lazio, because he wouldn't be a good little Roman boy if he didn't mock his rival now, wouldn't he?)

Notice the guy in the suit/sunglasses? That's Massimo Cellino, Leeds' chairman (formerly the owner of Cagliari), who decided that he didn't want to watch the match at Brentford from his box seat and sat amongst the regular fans.

He even treated himself to a hotdog at halftime:

On one hand, that does not sound suspicious at all.

On the other, it's a hilariously bad decision going against Julio Grondona's old club.

Everyone needs to watch this, especially those too young to remember pre-Premiership football. It's like a totally different world, Liverpool are world class, Merthyr Tydfil are in Europe, and it's all set to a banging Jean-Michel Jarre soundtrack.

It also has a mention one of the greatest sneaky (but legal) tricks ever seen in football: Rangers, needing to beat a great Dynamo Kyiv side in the European Cup, taking a few yards off the usual dimensions of the Ibrox pitch to try and nullify Lobanovskiy's expansive style of play.

(As you can tell, it worked, but partly because Dynamo's keeper made a huge mistake and gifted Gers a goal)

Jimmy Hill, a man who overcame having a very large chin to be a successful footballer, died today. He was one of the game's true revolutionaries both on the field and off it: while chair of the English PFA, he led the charge to eliminate the old maximum wage (back in the day footballers could only earn £20 a week) and allowed players to have freedom of movement after their contracts expired (previously teams could retain player rights for however long they felt like it): when he took over Coventry City, he changed the team's colors to sky blue, wrote much of the programs himself, encouraged kids to come to more games by giving them free bottles of Coke and bags of potato chips when they entered Highfield Road, and once when a linesman got hurt he put on a tracksuit, climbed out of the stands and grabbed the flag--he was a qualified ref on top of all that. He was the host of Match of the Day for years, where he used his seat as a place to argue for some of his other ideas, like live matches on TV and three points for a win.

Not everyone liked him, though, especially Scottish people that felt he mocked them on TV a little too much:
