I linked to a reddit post about Kern in the OP. It is an interesting read. But yeah, the new interface is pretty amazing. I just wish the marketplace UI was a little more approachable and intuitive (but it is still a huge step up from the old UI). That and I wish you could still change frames from the Battleframe Garage.

Beware of the Bio-crossbow's secondary fire it now leaves a poison cloud and you can seriously screw yourself up with it now, might be my low level core causing more of a problem but having 9k hp and losing 1-2k if you just touch the cloud is much more dangerous than the previous 100-300 damage from splash with no poison.

Perks will be your saviour. This is the setup I'm putting in mine:

1 - Necrotic Poison: Dealing poison damage applies a necrotic poison that reduces the targets damage output. It doesn't say how much, but for one point who cares if it's only 10% since you'll be AOE spamming everything.
1 - Siphoning Unit: 10% of all damage you do heals you for that much. Super handy for AOE spam.
1 - Collateral Analytics: Reduces damage done to yourself by 40%
1 - Neutralizer: 20% poison resist
1 - Virus: 10% damage bonus with poison weapons and abilities
2 - Necrotic Bite: 10% damage bonus vs humanoid targets
5 - Thick Hide: Increase base health by 400 (and scales up with level)

That's not many points at all for a huge survival boost in that frame.

The escort missions in DT are particularly funny because escorts cannot jump, and do not have jumpjets, so when you have to escort someone and there is no clear path, they will either get stuck and just sit there, or, if you are lucky, will walk right through lava, burn up and die.

I've also had the luck of someone thumpering near the only entrance to dredge, making it virtually impossible for the NPC to get through. They said they were looking at increasing the health of the NPC escorts as well as the defense missions to make it more doable. As it is, nearly every defense mission and most escort missions are impossible as a Raptor.

Speaking of which, anyone have a preferred perk/equipment loadout for the raptor? I can't seem to find anything super interesting since I don't have any master level perks

Nalin touched on this, but melee is way OP. On my raptor it is way easier to just melee. Backstabs do more damage than headshots with the melee perks. Guess I'll just do that until my firecat has modules to make it worth while...

Makes sense to me. All engineers being able to repair deployables is a pretty sensible idea. Can you even craft stuff like burrowing sticky launchers any more? I thought that was all removed. The crafting system doesn't let you just jam in whatever you want any more. Even if it does, coming up with a specialization for the Tesla isn't a monumental task. Specialize it into damage, or give it aoe repair, or increase range, or any of a million other things.

Accord Engineer didn't need to use a tesla to repair poo poo because it had Repair Nanites, which is incredibly useless now. Electron is a quick moving support, if you don't drop the shield and boomerang you only have one slot for a deployable. The number one thing either of these frames would want a repair gun for is the heavy turret, which now has a limited duration deployment. The only time I use the repair beam is when there are too many enemies for me to quickly kill with the lovely primary and I have to tank them with the turret which is boring as gently caress.

I would much rather have stickys available on all my engineers.

I'd much rather have turrets not completely suck because dear god, while they do okay damage now they could be outtanked by literal Origami swans and with the cooldowns and the general uptime I'm spending a lot of mission hiding behind poo poo and plinking away at the twenty or so enemies every wave spawns. I get why things are that way but I absolutely hate when my game experience gets hosed over in the name of PvP balance.

Speaking of PvP all I've fought so far are Mammoths and while it took them forever to take me down I barely did any damage because they'd take down my turrets before they could even engage so again I was stuck plinking away with my rifle, never really any danger to anyone. Like a 30 minute Benny Hill bit.

The Interface is genuinely better though.

So I'm looking at spending money on one of those Starter packs because I'm an impatient person - are either of them a good deal? From what I found, each advanced frame costs 100 beans to unlock, but do you use beans for anything else in game? Having every advanced frame unlocked from the start sounds useful, but $100 is a helluva lot of money too.

You use beans to buy VIP boosts, cosmetics, items like vehicles, slot machine tokens, speeding up research, etc.

For unlocking frames, you can use red beans (about $12.50 worth), get unlocks from playing the slot machine lottery, buying unlocks with credits that players put on the marketplace, or getting a frame to level 40 (you get 10 pilot tokens for doing that and those tokens unlock frames).

I posted about this in the other thread, but after subtracting the actual cost of the VIP/beans you get in the packs, it works out to:
Starter: $5 for the pet, warpaint, in-game title, soundtrack/art.
Deluxe: $32.50 for the MGV, all frames unlocked, and in-game title.

If you created your account before July the 8th (lol) then you have pre-access like the rest of us.

Also... que late night infomercial sound track

Does your ARES job give you the blues?
Are you tired of escorting arrogant Accord fucks with two left feet who don't know how to walk in a straight line or use stairs?
(I seriously couldn't get one to walk up a small hump of 3 steps)
Do they constantly get distracted running after / shooting at random bugs while you scream at them to hurry their asses up and follow you?

Turn that frown upside down because here at GOONCO Imports, we have the solution!

/end

You know that cute red panda pet they gave everyone for downtime? You know how it's bugged and has no hitbox and causes every Accord guard to stop whatever they're doing to shoot at it? I wasn't the one who thought of this but I've used it more than once since then. Every time I have an escort mission now I just whip out that pet and the guard will run his rear end wherever you want so long as he can keep shooting your pet. Combine that with a decent Bio frame like the Dragonfly and not only can you keep your escort alive, but make him move his rear end too.

I can't wait to jump back into this again! The changes sound so good, and the Goon feelings seem to be positive in the thread so far.

I have one question that I'm hoping somebody whose in game already can answer for me. I saw you can get a 2-person vehicle as one of the bundle options, and even though I'm a founder already that seemed pretty cool. My question is if there are ways to get a vehicle like that in game via Red Beans or crafting? If it is possible how much/how hard is it to obtain?

Right now that's the only way to get that vehicle. There has been no mention of it being available via other means but that's no surprise. Right now it being exclusive to the $99 pack is making them some much needed cash for launch. If they made it available via other means like the blue LGV you could make for CY, nobodys wallets would have opened. Just like the original Locust, I'm sure versions of it will feature prominently in future plans to sell red beans or other packs targeting vets before eventually being available for lots of crystite.

Or, you could go to the OWPVP zone and get the 3 person version that has a machine gun turret on the back for no dollars at all! (not available outside of OWPVP)

Things are looking up...

The game is a delightful improvement on what it was prior in most ways, so far.
Lack of breakage, interface and streamlining for the progression and a whole lot of goodies.

I'm most put off by the change to glider pads - the new shared cooldown feels like a punch in the dick, especially for those of us that may have gone out of the way to collect separate gliders FOR A REASON.

Now there's a single (that I know of) glider that lowers the 2 minute cooldown by 3 (amazing!) seconds. Perhaps there will be more - but it feels like an anemic reward for the investments made.

It is possible that Power Rating will affect turret HP. Have you tried testing it with your current turrets? Start a duel with somebody you know so they can see how much damage it takes to destroy your turret.
