The Godfather 2 sucked, the entire playing area was like 4 city blocks. It had really brutal melee kill animations though, you'd smack someone in the jaw and see it dislocate.

I played it years ago for the PS2 but are the Wii and PS3 version additions worth a replay if I could grab either of them cheap?

It's also worth noting that Diablo 3 now is a very different game than it was 2 years ago. A lot of people including myself turned to Torchlight 2 and Path of Exile because I was so disappointed in Diablo 3 but with the latest updates and the expansion, Diablo 3's the most fun ARPG around I think.

Open Hand and Closed Fist were awesome ideas implemented really badly. In theory, Closed Fist would be a practical morality system I could somewhat get behind, teach a man to fish over giving him one etc. In practice Closed Fist made you a baby eating rear end in a top hat for the sake of it.

How is the expansion? I played D3 for a bit earlier this year right before it dropped, but was broke and couldn't pick it up. Then I just kind of...forgot about it.

Really great. Some of the expansion bosses are actually kind of challenging when I breezed through vanilla D3, the atmosphere is darker and moodier to counter the complaints about vanilla being too colorful (which I always thought was dumb but w/e), the Crusader is a fun class to play especially since they can wield two handed weapons, one handed and Adventure Mode means that you'll probably never play through Story mode again until the inevitable next expansion comes out.

You won't get Adventure Mode, which is what everyone online is playing these days as the story mode sucks rear end and you've got much better loot opportunities from Rifts in Adventure Mode.

Diablo 3's story is bad in that everything is predictable and some of the characters have great potential but then do precisely fuckall. Tyrael is mortal now? Great, now he can be a follower or something and kick rear end. Oh wait no, he's still just useless as ever standing around in the hub.

Leah is less useless but much more grating in how she never shuts up about her mother or how she's a skeptic that demons exist and of Deckard Cain's history, in a world where demons are overunning the world and she's right with you killing them sometimes.

Having said that, it's not so bad that it makes the game not worth playing but it did used to be really obtrusive; later patches that allowed you to skip any and all story sequences automatically and Reaper of Souls Adventure Mode fixed this.

The Room would have been amazing if the entire game was in first person and not just the apartment, and there wasn't a crappy escort mission for the second half of the game. It's got the must surreal, dreamlike atmosphere and I dug that. Way more than traditional blood and rust anyway.

One of the draws(?) for Trails is to be able to go and talk to the npcs multiple times and they seem pretty reationary to where you are in teh story. Their comments get updated and stuff, so you don't end up having all these people only ever saying one thing over and over and over forever.

It kind of reminds me of the Grandia games in that sense. It's worth playing because it takes you back to a time where JRPGs were about fun exploration with the environment and NPCs and not grimdark anime nonsense or little girls who are really 4000 years old etc that a lot of modern JRPGs have fallen victim to.

MGS 3 is just an updated MGS 2 engine isn't it? Should be doable.
It's MGS 4 that will be the problem since the only reason it's not on 360 is because the engine used is a piece of poo poo held together by duct tape and bubblegum and it barely works on the PS3 as it is. So they'd need to remake MGS 4 for it to be on any other console besides PS3.

Bioshock 2 is a game that was criticized by everyone on release but after Bioshock Infinite and it's terrible DLCs that try to ruin the first game, everyone looked back on a bit more fondly and realized that while it was an unnecessary game, it was still a really good game and way better than what Ken Levine did with his "proper" Bioshock followup.

Basically if you're the OCD type who has to 100% every game in one playthrough, you're going to hate Dead Rising because even though it's possible, it's just not very fun. You're supposed to dick around, learn the layout of the maps and what items are in which locations, maybe level up a bit and then go for a 100% run when you're ready.

It's quite tedious to be honest. Linear isn't really the problem as almost all Final Fantasies are very linear. It's more that the first 20 or so hours are like a tutorial, and are as tedious as a tutorial.

On top of that, the story is very forgettable. I genuinely can't remember what happened in it other than some ridiculous ending involving a giant crystal and that the main character was called Lightning and milked to death in various sequels and cameo appearances in other games. Oh and there's a black guy with an afro who lets a chocobo live in it.

Not just a tutorial but there's no exploration until very late game and at that point it's just constant battles in a large but ultimately extremely boring field until you go back to linear hallways for the rest of the game.

I really couldn't ever see myself playing it again.

Counter-point: I'm not especially infatuated with the Resident Evil series, but I've played Leon's campaign in RE 6 for about 7 hours now with a friend, and we've been having a blast. Shoot zombies in the face and then proceed to suplex them into the ground. Good times. Mercenaries mode is also as fun as ever. Don't bother with the DLC multiplayer stuff though.

I'm pretty sure most of the people who hated RE 6 have either played it on console at launch which was supposedly nearly unplayable until it got patched but the PC version had those patches bundled in, tried to play it like Resident Evil 4/5 and got frustrated when it's more of a brawler at heart and guns are just for softening enemies up now while you get into melee range, or play it solo. Or possibly all three.

There are some badly designed parts like some of Jake's segments but overall I thought it was a blast.

...but Dead Rising 2 and OTR are substancial improvements on the first Dead Rising and even 3 for it's faults is still a fun game that's better than the first game in a lot of ways.

You talk about having to babysit idiot AI in Resident Evil 6 (but the AI partner is invincible and has infinite ammo anyway in RE 6, unlike RE 5) but Dead Rising 1 was a game about doing entirely that, it's not until 2 that the AI stops having a lobotomy and the gameplay is much more fun as a result.

No choice, you just gotta allot them linearly as the game wants? What if I don't want to be a loving frostoman, what if I wanna be a lightning guy?

You unlock new skills and runes as you level up and you can try out various builds on the fly with no penalty.

It's not like Diablo 2 where until the latest patch which added a way to respec, if you specced in something and then realized you hated it you were up poo poo creek and had to start the character over.

I'm finding Shadow of Mordor quite annoying actually. I heard you don't unlock the really cool things that let the Nemesis system shine until a couple of story missions in so I've been prioritizing on that but get greeted with crappy forced stealth sections and other annoying mechanics in it's place.

It's one potentially cool idea I've barely seen anything of wrapped up in mediocrity so far. But maybe I'm being unfair and need to give the game some time?

I was burned at launch by Diablo 3 and nothing is going to get me to come back. Now that Marvel Heroes exists, and is free, I don't think I'll need another ARPG for the foreseeable future.

I hate the feeling of playing Diablo 3 and realize you had more fun playing Eastern Sun in Diablo 2. Now that game was loving fun. If you like hording items in RPGs, Eastern Sun is your Mecca. I haven't had so much fun hording poo poo into a box since New Vegas.

Diablo 3 is very much the best ARPG out there now.

The only reason alternatives like Path of Exile, Torchlight and Marvel Heroes even got any particular notice was because of how botched Diablo 3 was at launch, but now Diablo 3 completely trumps them and it has the satisfying combat that games that Path of Exile simply didn't have.

Should Diablo 3 nowadays have been what it was at launch? Sure, but at least with Jay Wilson getting the boot Blizzard did learn from their mistakes and have more or less overhauled the game entirely from the past. Even the way difficulty levels work is completely different now.
