Pretty normal for crazy gearbox and diff fill and drain plugs. Even 1970s mazda diffs were square female 1/2" (so you use a bare ratchet), and gearboxes are male square 1/2", so you just use a spanner or shifter.
Weird as hell having these 4 sided female sockets and male plugs for diff and gearboxes.
Good to see they've gone from 4 sides( aka robertson or your bare ratchet), to hex :rolleyes:

On one hand you don't really need a hole saw, and cheap ones really do suck, plus you'll need to clean the edge up anyway.
OTHO, without a hole saw you're looking at a lot of ~5mm holes and then dremel time with loving expensive grinder and sander bits and a poo poo load of time. If you have hours to spend and lots of dremel bits you didn't need anyway, go without a hole saw. If you don't want to spend that much time, spend au$80 for 2min with a quality hole saw.
