Consider the new Moto E:

Better than the first-gen Moto G that Cricket sells in every way. The only thing it lacks is an LED for the camera flash.

LTE model is $150, otherwise it's $120.
The E has a 960x540 screen, versus the 720p screen on the G. But otherwise, the new E seems much better specs wise than the G.

Anybody know if the Moto X Pure or Nexus 6P will work on PagePlus?

I'm about to move to the backwoods, but I don't want to give up my sweet sweet T-Mobile until absolutely necessary.
Both of them should work on Verizon, so I assume PagePlus would activate them.

Why is Republic Wireless on that list. Doesn't it use lovely Sprint signal?
They offer service on T-Mobile for their new subscribers. People with older plans are on Sprint.

I'm currently on the metro 50 dollar unlimited plan and reasonably happy but I've been seeing ads for visable all over town. Which apparently runs on Verizon and is 10 bucks cheaper with a 100 gift card promo. I've not heard of them are they good?
Oh boy.

So: Visible will either be wonderful and everything will work as expected, or it will be terrible. There does not seem to be an inbetween.

Ordering a phone? Could work, could possibly work but silently fail somewhere on their end, could just fail because your bank flags them as fraud. My credit union said they've had "multiple incidents" (I'm guessing chargebacks because of their customer service and logistics issues) with Visible that led them to be autoflagged as fraud.

To actually order a phone, I had to: attempt to place an order, have it fail, have my credit union confirm it failed due to a fraud flag on their company, install the Visible app on my current phone, sign in, live chat with a rep, get a case created to "reset my account" because there was no way to retry the transaction, wait for the case to be worked, then try to order again.

I finally got a phone ordered via PayPal and.. nothing.

They can see my order was "submitted." They took my money. I have an order number. Their front line reps (chat from their app, text from your Visible line, or Twitter support only!) can't answer any advanced questions about it, they refer everything up to a "specialist" who will contact you in "24-48 hours" (this is a very optimistic timeframe), and that's it. Yikes.

Apparently, they have engaged a "third party to assist in locating my order" and are waiting to hear from them as of last night. I'm guessing this means their logistics fulfillment partner, but: what the gently caress, you can't even sell a phone right?

So now, several days and several hundred dollars later, I have no phone, no service, my number port is on hold until they can find my order, and I have no ETA on when that will be.

Lest you think I'm being overdramatic, peruse the Visible subreddit. There's more than one report there of orders getting "lost", promotional gift cards not being sent out, speed issues, network issues.. it is really kind of insane. Apparently it takes days to weeks for number ports and activations to work right for some people.

If I wasn't patient and actually wanting to get a look at Verizon coverage, I'd have bailed way before now. Granted, their coverage is LTE only, but given that Verizon CDMA is slated to be generally shut off by 2020, it shouldn't be too different coverage-wise.

One last thing: network deprioritization. Visible may have unlimited data with no speed cap, but Verizon has put them under some insane deprioritization rules. It's not uncommon for people in populous areas to post sub-megabit speedtest screenshots. I'm guessing that they get even less priority than other MVNOs, which is a little bizarre considering Visible is Verizon-owned.

tl;dr: Visible is a hot mess tarted up with some good pricing and promos. Roll the dice if you want, but is the $10 savings worth the possible grief?

Sorry if this is the wrong thread for this but I was just wondering, I switched from Straight Talk to Visible and I'm currently waiting for them to port the number or 3d print the phone or finish making tea or whatever. but my question is, if my straight talk plan runs out (it ends 12/25) before they finish porting the number/then sending me the phone/and I'm then able to activate it, am I just poo poo out of luck? do I need to buy a cheaper 35 dollar straight talk plan as a 2 or 3 day holdover until they finish porting if I want my number?

Yeah, you're going to need an active account to port out.

Visible is a complete crapshoot when it comes to getting set up. I effortposted about my issues with them above but the tl;dr: on the resolution was “they refunded me, somehow sent me a phone any way, I had to fight to return the drat phone even though I was probably legally entitled to keep it, and they had to delete my account completely to allow me to try ordering and porting again (which somehow worked flawlessly that time).”

Also: the data deprioritization is massive. I’m talking as low as 200kbps down in busy places like sporting events, hospitals, and even traffic jams. I'm using an iPhone 11, so it's not that I've got a cheap phone with Category 2 LTE speeds. I did a side by side comparison with T-Mobile in the same spots and it was way faster, and Verizon doesn't have capacity issues I'm aware of in my area so they just throttle you that hard. Still, it might be worth it for $25 a month.

They actually came through on Monday, I got an email saying my port info was wrong, so I resubmitted it and was online within 20 minutes. I've already hot spotted 200GB just downloading steam games and streaming while using another phone I got through them a week before, seems to be the same speed as Straight Talk was, without having to worry about Straight Talk shutting me off after 60GB randomly when they decide I'm suddenly breaking ToS. That said I do live in the middle of bumfuck nowhere so that could be why I'm not getting deprioritized so hard.

Ah, that’s great! Glad you go it working without having to burn cash on more Straight Talk.

Sounds like you’re in an ideal situation for Visible - not enough load on your local towers for it to throttle you and have a need for their unlimited perks like the hotspot. I don’t think I’ve come across anyone who’s said anything about getting hit with a ToS for overuse - I imagine they’d just throttle you.

If you’re not in one yet, hit up the VisiblePartyPay and Visible subreddits and hop into a party with other people. I’m in a full party with other internet randos right now, so I can’t invite you to mine. You can see each other’s first names, area codes, and the last 4 digits of the phone number, but you’re not obligated to each other in any way bill wise. It’s the weirdest discounting scheme since Sprint’s Framily plans, but I can’t really complain about getting $15 off a month without sharing any obligations.

No international calling and I've heard the pings for gaming are high

Assuming they don't stop the Party Pay discount or cap the data at some point, it looks good

They did introduce Mexico and Canada calling. I usually got pings in the 100ms range.

Data prioritization in my mid-sized city metropolitan area was intense - you go somewhere where there's a large mass of people not on WiFi and I regularly was pulling sub-5mbps, usually around 1mbps or less. It was a struggle to get anything to work over data at all during the sub-megabit times. I get that that's not as much of an issue right now but it's something to watch out for.

Customer service is all chat based, they rigidly follow a script, and if something weird happens, be prepared for it to drag on endlessly.

Their service also seems to be more reliable on iPhones based on my casual observation of their subreddit. Do yourself a favor and don't get the garbage free or cheap Android phones they offer, they're apparently electronic waste being sold as phones. I was using an iPhone 11 and never had to cycle airplane mode or anything to get data like a lot of people talked about.

Will Verizon-locked phones work with Visible? IIRC T-Mobile and Sprint and MetroPCS will work on T-Mobile phones (I might be wrong) and I've seen phones listed as AT&T/Cricket as well so I'm wondering if Verizon allows you to use their locked phones on the MVNOs they own.
I believe so, assuming they're not blacklisted for non-payment. Verizon will automatically unlock their phones after 60 days of service after purchase, so assuming you fulfilled that requirement it should already be unlocked. You should be able to run an IMEI check on the Visible website for compatibility and ask the r/Visible subreddit if you want to be sure.

drat, those are some terrible deals. I am actually using my 11 that I got from them and I want to say I got $200 off with a $100 gift card back in the day. I see they're doing $150 gift cards right now, but still.

Their "chose your own adventure" style BYOD check does instantly flag paid off Verizon iPhones as compatible, and eSIM ready if you're using an iPhone that has it, so that's something.
