The apartment I'm living in at the moment doesn't have internet access set up. I'm only going to be there for a month so I'm looking for temporary alternatives (I tried tethering from my phone but I don't have enough data to support my goony internet habits).

I've looked into wireless hotspots, but they seem pretty expensive in exchange for not that much data. Ideally, I'd like something unlimited. I'm in NYC, so it feels like there should be something available.

Does anyone have any recommendations, outside of camping out at Starbucks?

Thanks for all these responses, most of the stuff I hadn't thought of (like asking neighbors for wi-fi) or didn't know existed (FreedomPop).

I think I'll be able to cobble something together (or just you know, not be a goony internet user and actually go out in the city I guess).

Found a starbucks 2 blocks from my house, joined a coworking space nearby with 24/7 internet, and mostly just spent a lot more time out of the house.

It actually worked out pretty well. Not gonna lie, your suggestion is my favorite. They had a partnership with Google at the starbucks and their internet was so drat fast.
