I'll advertise this now, while I'm thinking about it: if anyone needs a 1B to plug in and not touch for the entire season, I have this here Steve Bilko who's contributing to my having way too many PA. After this season he's primarily a bench hitter in '54, '58, and '60-'62. I'm not looking for much, just someone/something that can pitch, really. Rest assured that I will remind y'all of his availability frequently until the season starts, and probably beyond that if I can't get anyone to give in. Tweet or PM or HBD TC me or stand outside my house with a giant picture of someone you'd give up for him and I'll assess your offer forthright (that means within a fortnight) (that's a badass sleepover with pillow forts and poo poo)

However there are a nice vat of interesting players still good in the next year or two that you may be interested! here is a sampler of those i'd be inclined to part with. yes Matt Batts is good and cool and you should all trade for him Also I now own the 1953 AL and NL leaders in losses in Byrd and Murry Dickson. In related news, I would really like to trade Dickson's 1136 IP from '53-'59, you know where to find me if you like bad pitching

I'm really looking forward to seeing how many of Al Rosen's record-setting paces he can keep. Right now, he has 60 hits, 14 homers, 43 RBI, 55-plus RC, and a .465/.533/.839 line. After 31 games. Btw, he also has 2 strikeouts in 150 PA, though it would take work to find that record. As a result of his destruction, the average hitter is .284/.353/.423, which is kinda insane. Somehow, through all this, I'm leading in runs allowed, and second in ERA, OAV, and WHIP.

Far as I can tell if things continue as they are now, two teams will get hosed out of a playoff spot, the runners-up in the NL East (probably me) and AL West

His BABIP, completely out of context and without any others to compare it to, is .376. That's probably not even in the top 5 this season, honestly

Pumpkin McPastry posted:So bummed I didn't get to draft Mickey or Willie. I mean, Minnie's pretty cool and all. He's .346/.416/.505, with 8 homers. He's 13-22 stealing bases, which is weird because he has like 86 speed. And he's made 8 errors in 54 games because his D+/C- defense is literally the best of my full-time OF. (That's admittedly my own fault, though tbh, gently caress defense get bats.) But yeah. Though Willie wouldn't be contributing to Slugfest '53, so... s'all good if I don't miss the playoffs this season, I guess I'm still stunned at how not awful my pitching has been. I don't have anyone in the majors now with an ERA above 5.00! That's probably because I've gotten really lucky. Johnny Klippstein, for example, has a .304 OAV, 1.86 WHIP, and 2 strikeouts to 9 walks in 14 innings, but only a 3.21 ERA magically.

Warren Spahn got the win, Allie Reynolds the loss, Murry Dickson the save. Yes, Murry Dickson made the ASG by going 7-11 with a 4.76 ERA in 125 IP (17 starts), which is somehow better than what he's put up for me, a 5.20 in 106 IP (and now that I realize that I finally took him out of the rotation) Pee Wee Reese, Enos Slaughter, Stan Musial, and Minnie Minoso (!) had two hits each. There wasn't much interesting about the game.
