Rugby union Problem: No coherent global season Solution: Not the silver bullet, but shift the June internationals to July and reduce the amount of domestic fixtures in the Northern Hemisphere club scene, particularly in Europe. De-clutter the Super Rugby fixtures, and establish a clear, coherent conference system with equal across-the-board representation of South African, Kiwi and Aussie teams. Re-establish the Pampas team from the Currie Cup and Vodacom Cup competitions and include them in the Super Rugby competition and perhaps introduce invitational Tier-2 league sides to allow for participation by Georgian, Russian, Romanian, Japanese and Uruguayan players hosted by one of the three "home" nations. Separate them into 3 conferences of equal teams with 10~12 teams a piece, top 2 sides from each conference go through to the quarterfinals, with the remaining 2 spots fought out by the 3rd and 4th placed teams in a repechage competition. Problem: Southern Hemisphere teams, namely New Zealand, Australia and South Africa, have a lopsided winning record against their Northern Hemisphere opponents and the gap appears to be widening. Solution: Point and laugh at the Northern losers.
