"Common core" is two words about as innocuous as you can get. They're downright wholesome. Now, calling something the "state curriculum", what are you some kind of Soviet communist who wants the state to dictate what schools teach? The point is, the problems arising from common core are complicated and systematic, and you'd have frothy mouthed detractors no matter what you called it.
