Heh, guys, there's a difference between an homage and blatantly copying something- since this isn't literally the detective from Deadly Premonitions (our IP of choice here is Carmen Sandiego), mix it up a bit. For example, the "insists people call him 'blank'" part is a good homage. Be creative! You can do it!

I'll take the surname from the character's sister's voice actress (his own voice actor's surname is Menville, much less punchy). Name: Zachary "Zack" Hale Quirk: Is, among other brilliant traits, a polyglot with an eidetic memory, but doesn't take his job anywhere near as seriously as he should. Chooses the worst times to be casual. Motivation: The thrill of doing what is believed to be impossible. Carmen isn't even like a force of nature, she's like a force of the universe. I remember as a kid being somewhat confused because instead of using the world almanac that came with the game, I'd use the more up to date books we had in the house. So the fact I was trying to use information that was not out of date meant I kept failing the promotion exams or whatever they were. Yes, I failed an edutainment game by way of education  I'll leave you more creative sorts to work out what poor bastard has to suffer through this hell.

Yes, I failed an edutainment game by way of education We had the version before this one (Where in the USA, first edition I believe but I wouldn't be surprised to find out this was originally for punchcards or something) and for my dad's very first mission the RNG handed him Carmen. When you catch her you're immediately promoted to super-sluth and the missions become next to impossible, giving no leeway for even visiting an extra building to look for warrant clues or anything. I'm glad he's the one who got stuck and not my brother or me, we would have taken it more personally.

The Horrible Secret of Animal Crossing is what sucked me into LP in the first place, and I loved the poo poo out of Carmen Sandiego as a kid. Surname: Sandiego. Quirk: Professional cat-burglar turned Cop. A kleptomaniac by nature, has to work very hard to keep himself under control. Motivation: Carmen is his estranged ex-wife. Left him holding the bag as her way of saying good-bye when she walked out on him. Hates her as much as he still loves her. Let's Noir the poo poo out of this.
