IT's and LN's fall under the "No sea duty" rotation now, as of I think a year or so ago, I am pretty sure there's 2 or 3 more rates besides that have that.

And from what I can tell CTNs actually do interesting stuff whereas ITs tell m people to call NMCI.

I browse somethingawfuldotcom forums at work pretty much all day, and when I have to do anything at all it is basically 10 minutes to show someone how to open their email or some dumb poo poo, or 20 minutes for a crypto change once a month. Excellent use of taxpayer dollars IMO. I got my A+, Net+, Security+ (Everyone who works with computers should have those three, bare minimum), and am working on my CISSP cert.

It's not a challenging job whatsoever, but on the other hand I make the same money as a CTN at the end of the day anyways.

This is easily the first time in 4 years working in Main Propulsion that i've gotten more then a scratch; I'd say I have a fair idea of what, and what not should be touched as far as machinery goes.

For the record, C school has 4 engines that we students are about to work on; 2 generators, and 2 main engines. I was merely demonstrating the amount of force in a main engine verse the generator, and got pinched. It's machinery, metal, electricity, and all sorts of fun things that could potentially hurt *anyone*, but today I was that guy.

Luckily I ended up with nothing more then a deep cut; lesson learned, let's carry on.

Considering you could have been minus 4 digits rather easily, you got pretty lucky.

EDIT: also if you got a deep cut across your palm, holy hell are you in for a world of fun. Enjoy the feeling as barely flexing/moving your palm almost causes the stitches to open up. (Stitches on your palm are really painful/easy to pull accidentally) I opened my hand up from index finger across the palm to the opposite side at the bottom of my palm. poo poo sucked, but I am wayy more careful with sharp implements and hands now.

What's wrong with C7F? Keep in mind I've literally been in school since RTC.

Mustin was awarded Battle "E" five times from the Wikipedia page, so it looks like either smooth sailing or someone with a fetish for being sat (lots of rules). Then again I don't really know.

I do know that it shouldn't matter what flight of DDG I end up on as an ET.

C7F is like the knee-jerkiest reactionary bullshit you can deal with, crammed down your throat on a daily basis, with extra servings on the side. Do not come here, I have seen many many people snap and destroy their Navy careers to get out of 7th fleet. To be honest, go to the MCM. You will enjoy working with such a small crew, can't stay out of port long on that thing, usually a week or 2 endurance, so you will hit port many and often.

Bremerton sucks as there is nothing to do as a single junior enlisted sailor that does not involve getting into some serious trouble, and carrier life is nice somewhat as you will generally have someone you can ask for advice if you need it for just about anyrhing, but you will have to deal with some pretty annoying bullshit on a carrier as well, along with never ever hitting a liberty port.

C7F is a negative, then, which probably puts me on that MCM since I'd rather not be on a carrier since it's not necessarily great for advancement as a junior (I've heard). I love the Washington coastline and the cities on it, and plan on buying a car immediately, but that can wait a few years I suppose.

It all comes down to either putting myself out there or hiding in a corner in two extremes. Maybe I need to be figuring out what I want to do with my life rather than where I want to go.

On the other topic: I lived 5 miles from Glacier Park secluded in the woods with my single mother, plenty of dogs and cats, and horrible internet. But yeah, it was very rarely hot, very rarely extremely cold, too. I'd love a place that stayed 20-70 year long.

Once again, thanks for the replies. This is more than I ever could have hoped for.

San diego is the land of milk and honey compared to anywhere in Japan. You made the right choice tbh. the real right choice is to never reenlist
