Welcome to the human race.
Thanks for a fantastically entertaining ride, SGF and Spaxter! I really enjoyed it

If I don't know you and you haven't got a dome, then that means you're crashing my party. And while that makes you fascinating, it also makes you potentially dangerous.

I like that.
As an amusing side note I have just myself found out about a game that I would very much like to see SGF present. It's an FMV from the same era, created by a personal rival, an individual who worked with Animatics after the MODE experience, who did not disguise his contempt for my work, his belief that it was my failings that doomed the project, and his intention to demonstrate this truth by producing superior CD-ROMs. When he faltered in his efforts they asked me to step in and help out, which I did, but then Animatics folded and that was that. It turns out this guy was, not long after, successful in convincing somebody to give him a whack of dough to produce his own piece, and he did! On top of that he patented the interface, which was an evolved version of the Mood Bar, using in place of the color bar the graphic of a face that changes as you mouse over it.
It's called "Gothos". Here are links to a couple of reviews:

I'm hoping that SGF, or someone in this group, can dig up a copy of this one, as I'd love to see it. Sounds like some fun.

I'd be up to see an LP of Vampire The MODEsquerade, especially because of how bad it sounds.

What shall we do with him? A permaban, perhaps? Probate him for a few years? Or...shall we employ a big red custom title? You, the goons of SA, shall decide his fate.

I hereby name this evil twin of the Mood Bar the Doom Face.

A Youtube channel about old adventure games that I subscribe to has the first 20 minutes or so of the game.

I always saw the name among the videos there but never watched it, will have to check it out now when I have time due to the Mode connection.
(Incidentally, this channel also has a video of the first 20 minutes or so of Mode, I think I may have seen the video of it there before this LP. Can't recall for sure, but it must be one of the only other videos of it out there.)

Thanks for the link. In the playthroughs of Gothos, Andrew (LeBlanc, writer/director, once-rival) plays two roles -- the vampire you talk to by the river and the museum official. I thought that the "interview with the vampire" sequence was quite thoughtful, and starred a really excellent actor I have used in my radio drama by the name of Bruce Feather (now long deceased). I will say it may not appeal to me, and I should probably harbour some resentment towards Andrew, but in fact I'm proud as hell of him for actually pulling it off, and genuinely trying to improve on the form. He clearly had a budget, hired actors, rented a greenscreen space, had sound facilities. I've since found Andrew, and I'm kind of sorry this didn't work for him enough to keep him trying, because he might have improved.

What? Never seen a shaved Squatch before?
I tracked down Gothos and am giving it a spin. It's something special alright. It even has some of the same actors as MODE! Bella for sure, and I'm pretty sure one the vampires is Vito with a goatee.

The most interesting feature of this game so far is your ability to attack any NPC.

Sometimes you kill them, steal their blood, and loot their pockets:

Sometimes they kill you:

Edit the second:
This game was also shot in the same city as Midnight Stranger (Spaxter's other game). I recognize some of the locations.

I approve of any game with Vito Brevis. Even if it's him as a Vampire Hugh Hefner.

Since SGF has a large backlog of games he wants to LP i'd at least like to see him stream this game when he's finished with the CDI.

Maybe he could do both Gothos and MODE's spiritual prequel Midnight Stranger in the same thread since they were filmed in the same city.

Thanks to Tamrael for hosting the ISOs of MODE, I've dug through and found the sound files. if anybody is interested in hosting their own party of the year, I've looped the floor themes for each disc and cleaned it up so that it sounds decent in stereo etc.

https://www.mediafire.com/folder/0mnc88s66id41/MODE

Might do the same for the MODE Machine themes in the future.

The MODE machine music owns; it'd be great to see it looped too.
