Note for new people since we have a lot of them: raising training and medical budgets to the max as soon as possible is not an option. It is mandatory. The game rules say you have $185 million to spend however you'd like but in truth by your third season you should have $145 million with training and medical maxed out. Every winning player in the history of this game has maxed these two items, you should too!

To be fair there is wiggle room (primarily in medical budget) if you need to squeeze a couple mil out of somewhere but it's best to do that only once you have a handle on the game. Before then, just max out training/medical.
